I tell my clients this all the time early on in therapy.

Perhaps. But I anxiously await the day that my supervisor breaks down and lets me paint this on the wall (a flashing neon sign would also do). -

Those of us with OCD (myself included) occasionally fall into the trap of thinking that we are the only beings in the history of the universe to have thoughts and internal experiences like ours. -
•
•
When coupled with intrusive thoughts, this distorted thinking brings shame, guilt, and anxiety. -
•

So, go forth and revel in the knowledge that you aren’t that special! ❤️❤️-

FIRST LAYERS -

The blank canvas can be anxiety provoking. And the anxiety doesn’t necessarily go away. But, as is consistent with the Inhibitory learning Model of Exposure and Response Prevention, I am getting better at having anxiety as I practice.

If I am working at my table, you will find me in a t-shirt and athletic shorts with socks and hair-a-mess either 1. Standing on my chair or 2. Squatting like a frog on my chair. (Bc who needs back support!?)-

My studio is my comfy place. I don’t have to get up and get dressed for work....I don’t have to sit like a “normal” person ( though I’m sure some of my clients would debate whether or not I sit like a “normal” person in session!)....

I find some of my most interesting paintings are the result of happy accidents. I tend to stumble rather than stride into my paintings. But the stumbling makes the finished result more beautiful!-
