Kind of an afternoon over here.... Trying to work with ink and I was interrupted by black bears outside.

I've enjoying working with ink, whether it's sketching and drawing or using it like watercolor. Here I revisted a photo of a bull elk from last fall in the Smokies.

A sow black bear and her three yearling cubs have started showing up somewhat regularly now. So far they've been behaving themselves but today one of the cubs seemed to get a little too brave.

Remembering past tarpon fishing trips in the Keys and Everglades today while painting. Looking forward to an upcoming trip in May. Expect to see a few more tarpon and other salty subjects as anticipation builds in the coming weeks.

Some people will draw or paint out in the field, and I do that occasionally, but far more after time on the water. Painting often takes me back in time to remember special moments. Today I'm remembering a particular small spring creek on the Patagonian steppe, the rising trout there, and the great people I was fortunate enough to spend the day with.

One of those special days I'll always revisit in my mind... The excitement of watching cruising trout in impossibly small water, sight casting to risers, eruptions of laughter, the colors of wild parrots, and the taste of yerba mate' on the ride back at the end of the day with this music playing in the truck.
