Today we are featuring another amazing Nutmeg faculty member, Kate Sutter!

Kate Sutter is the Co-Founder and Artistic Director of Syren Modern Dance. An alumna of Nutmeg, she earned her BFA from SUNY Purchase and trained at the Erick Hawkins School, Limón Institute, and Kirov Academy. Her choreography has been presented internationally, including the World Expo Dubai, Jacob’s Pillow, Symphony Space, Bach Society of Houston, and the Boston Museum of Science. Her artistry and passion are a wonderful asset for our students!

In anticipation of the start of our upcoming academic year, we are thrilled to be featuring esteemed Nutmeg ballet faculty and Audition Tour Director, Joan Kunsch.

Kunsch has served on The Nutmeg’s faculty for four decades. She has taught at academies and university dance departments across the USA and across the world. Her choreography includes works for concert stage, sacred spaces, TV and outdoor venues such as Jacob's Pillow. Dancers she has helped to train have joined over 70 professional companies, including Boston Ballet, Colorado Ballet, ABT, NYCB, Joffrey Ballet, Richmond Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, Les Grands Ballet Canadiens.

She is also a poet and a painter! We are thankful for the years of experience she shares with our students.

Continuing our highlights of our amazing artistic faculty, today we are proud to feature Character Teacher and Ballet Faculty member, Alexei Tchernichov!

A graduate of the Vaganova Institute and Bolshoi Academy, Mr. Tchernichov is a former principal dancer with the Kuybyshev State Ballet and son of Elena Tchernichova, former Principal Ballet Mistress of ABT. He brings a vast wealth of knowledge and experience in classical ballet technique and repertoire to The Nutmeg.
