Meet Lindsay Sara Johnson, one of the creative forces behind Encore’s upcoming productions of Aladdin Jr. and Frozen! 🎭✨

You may know her from her direction of such spectacular shows as Encore’s The Little Mermaid, Anastasia, and School of Rock, or one of the many professional productions she has worked on in and around Los Angeles. But Lindsay’s passion for theater goes beyond the stage. While she has a long list of shows she dreams of directing (with All Shook Up near the top), one of her biggest goals is to bring theater to the people who need it most. Whether through community theater, creating safe spaces for artists to train and grow, or using sound to help heal through Euphoric Resonance, Lindsay believes in the power of the arts to connect, empower, and transform. 🌟

A few fun facts about Lindsay:
🎭 She’s performed in 52 musicals and directed 14!
🦹‍♀️ She loves a good villain.
😂 When it comes to audience reactions, she’ll take an honest laugh any day.
🎬 Her dream directing list is still growing, with All Shook Up at the top!

We’re so grateful for directors like Lindsay who help bring stories to life and create spaces where artists can discover their voices, build confidence, and experience the magic of theater.

✨ Throwback Thursday! ✨
Since 2011, Mara Wolfsen has been making memories on the Encore Theatre Group stage alongside her two girls. 💕 Starring as Mrs. Wormwood, Granny Addams, and the Dowager Empress, just to name a few roles, with special moments shared both on and off the stage, Encore has become so much more than theatre—it’s become family.

When we asked Mara what Encore means to her, she said it perfectly:

“It means life long friendships and community!” ❤️

We couldn’t agree more! Here’s to the friendships, memories, traditions, and generations of performers and families that make Encore so special. 🎭✨

Thank you, Mara, for being such an important part of our Encore family for all these years!

The room where it happens… 🎭❄️

The director. The choreographer. The script.
And a whole lot of hope filling the room. ✨

Maybe we don’t know every detail of the story yet.
Maybe we don’t know exactly how each role will be filled.
But we do know this:

This is the room where our story begins. ❤️

Every step, every hope, every little piece of the journey is bringing us closer to the community we’ve dreamed of building.

And somehow, we just know the ending is going to be magical. ✨

🎃 WOULD YOU RATHER: Costume Edition! 👗✨

Because in musical theater, sometimes the costume is the character… and sometimes the costume is just fighting for its life. 😂

So, theater friends, which would YOU choose?

1. Amazing but uncomfortable OR ridiculously comfy?

2. 10 costume changes OR one costume all show long?

3. Giant ball gown OR elaborate superhero costume?

There are no wrong answers… although choosing 10 costume changes may require a Jedi master quick change assistant like .Wong.3975 on your side!

Drop your picks below! 🎭👇

✨ TIP TUESDAY ✨

This week’s tip comes from Frozen choreographer Katelyn Martin: challenge yourself to train in multiple dance styles! 💃

The more styles you can master, the more versatile you become — and the more opportunities you can book. Musical theater dance especially requires you to pull from a variety of styles, so expanding your training can make all the difference when it’s time to audition.

And with audition callbacks happening this week, there’s no better time to put that versatility into practice! 👏 Whether you’re heading into a callback or preparing for your next opportunity, keep training, keep challenging yourself, and keep adding tools to your dancer’s toolbox.

Want more audition tips, training inspiration, and industry insight? Follow Encore and keep learning with us! ✨
