Pelican cases, coolers, and flashlights are used by both consumers and professionals in the most demanding markets including fire safety, law enforcement, defense / military, aerospace, entertainment, industrial and consumer. Pelican products are designed and built to last a lifetime. Pelican was founded in 1976 by Dave Parker and his wife Arline in their Torrance, California garage. An avid Scuba diver since age 11, Dave recognized the need for rugged flashlights and cases that wouldn’t leak or fail and set out to build a better product than any other on the market. After years of hard work and sacrifice, Pelican Products became a reality with its first product patent, the Pelican Float™. The legendary SabreLite™ flashlight and Protector Cases soon followed.

From the Archives // Camel Trophy

From 1980 to 2000, Camel Trophy became one of the most demanding proving grounds in expedition travel. Across jungle tracks, river crossings, deep mud, and remote routes around the world, Pelican cases were part of the loadout, strapped to Land Rover roof racks and packed with the gear teams needed to keep moving.

In an Expedition Portal article written by Susan Dragoo Camel Trophy event coordinator Duncan Barbour recalled that customized roof racks were made to carry four Pelican cases, along with fuel and water cans and our teams at PELI Products Peli UK supplied Pelican 1600 cases for the Camel Trophy through the mid-1990s.

The roads changed and the conditions changed, but the mission stayed the same: protect what mattered when there is no room for failure.
