WRHS produces 3-5 plays and musicals annually. Technical and design elements are products of student work, and our pit orchestra is comprised of students from our highly-rated band and orchestra programs.

The Washburn Rural Theatre Department is selling Boo grams as our Fall Fundraiser! These are little bags of candy and trinkets perfect for your fall festivities! Bags are $5 each and may be picked up in the Washburn Rural Cafeteria during lunch on Thursday 10/29 and Friday 10/30! Orders will be taken through Friday, October 23rd! Money is due at the time of pick up! Checks can be made out to Washburn Rural Theatre Department! Order as many as you’d like! This post doesn’t do justice to the amount of fun, learning, laughter, and love we’ve had this week at the International Thespian Festival! Weston got superior in his musical theatre thespy! Milo and Audrey got to meet a genuine Savannah Banana! Mr. Lucchesi and Mrs. Bernick got to train in workshops to better meet the needs of our students! It was an awesome time, and a great close to our 2025-2026 season! WaRu Theatre will see you in August!!
