I don't know what's gotten into me lately, in terms of writing. After over a year of total writers-block, apathy, distraction, whatever keeps any vestigate of creativity from coming out - it's been a wild few weeks with EIGHT SONGS completely written for the new record. I have one left to finish writing and then it's time to transition the demos to actual useable tracks.
I'm excited about this record, though I don't know if I'll be able to capture the sound in my head as well as I'd like. Style-wise, it's all over the place: A couple of straight rock & rollers, blues-ier songs, synth-driven indie rock, and one that's more country than anything else.
I've really considered giving this up more than a time or two, particularly when it feels like no one is really listening or it doesn't matter because the whole world is circling the drain anyway. But I suppose art and expression matter more than ever, even if it is a small audience (love you loyal listeners).
I may try to document the making of this record and the change in process (i.e., writing everything first, practicing, and then recording it the best I can before collaborating with the incomparable Martin Greaves). I'm not planning on doing any singles, at least not until the whole thing is complete, and hopefully there will be a physical release (CD/Vinyl) this time.
Time to get back to work!!!
