Come along on the GREAT AMERICAN ROADTRIP at the NOTO Art Center! We have a route that will not only teach you about why taking vacations throughout time have been different, why the oldest continually occupied community is NOT in Florida, the theaters and diners as tourist attractions, what kind of stuff to pack on a vacation, mail a postcard to a senior citizen or Veteran, have a scary fun time with Area 51, and more!! And all with interactive sounds, projects, and take and make art!

While on your trip, you can even visit under the sea, with the Jellyfish Bloom / Washed Ashore Exhibit in the Morris Gallery!

Artist Matt Coward gave custom paint jobs to these little cars so your toddler can take the wheel through their own summer vacay right here at the NOTO Art Center!!
Just tell the desk you want a 'little car' and they'll give you a form to fill out, your child gets their own little NOTO Driver License, and with you can push them, or they can take control (with your guidance!).
Those who have filled out applications will be put into a drawing box at the end of the exhibit, and we will randomly select two little folk to WIN A CAR!!

The Great American Roadtrip … Wish You Were Here!! And you can be, because it opens First Friday, FRIDAY, JUNE 5. We will be serving refreshments at 6:00 and look forward to you arriving!
The exhibit will run until August 29, visit as much as you’d like during Art Center hours, and will be accompanied by an art exhibit of regional artists’ works based on THEIR great American roadtrips!!

Featured in The Great American Roadtrip is the JeBo Trails Art Salon! This ‘stop’ on your vacation reminds us that art galleries are ALWAYS a wonderful stop during your roadtrips and vacations! Whether it’s the Louvre in Paris, the Getty in LA, the Met in NYC or the regional and local galleries in smaller towns, galleries bring imagination alive and create memories you won’t find anywhere else! The Great American Roadtrip will have a small art salon as well as art sprinkled throughout the entire exhibit, along with tips for young art appreciators to learn more about gallery etiquette, behavior, history and opportunities!

Join us at the NOTO Art Centerthrough Sept 13th for the Washed Ashore: Art to Save the Sea, a nationally acclaimed traveling exhibition that transforms ocean trash into breathtaking works of art.

Created by the nonprofit Washed Ashore Project, this exhibit features larger-than-life marine sculptures made entirely from plastic debris collected from beaches and waterways. Each piece tells a powerful story about the impact of pollution on our oceans and inspires us to make more thoughtful choices in our everyday lives.

Over the past 15 years, Washed Ashore has:
* Removed more than 35 tons of marine debris
* Created over 85 monumental sculptures
* Been featured at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History, zoos, aquariums, botanical gardens, and on national television.
Five Topeka Locations. Six Incredible Sculptures. One Powerful Message.
This summer Topeka becomes part of a nationwide movement to raise awareness about plastic pollution and environmental stewardship.

These extraordinary sculptures remind us that even in the middle of Kansas, our actions affect oceans and wildlife around the world.
