To the wonderful people in the community who have loved and supported LaForge Encore Theatre Company for the last 12 years, It is time I let you know what is going on. As you know, Covid shut us down for 2020 -- the year after I had my well-deserved break (and DID take a cross country trip) so we have not had a show for 3 years. Because I am not getting any younger and it has become much more difficult to find help for things like building scenery, the Board of LETC and I have decided we will not be producing any major shows under the name LETC. We still want to do Face Painting for events like the City Halloween Party and we want to be involved in creating Reader's Theatre performances. The Tooele City Arts Council, who has been our main champion and supporter, has agreed with our decision. You should know that all of us are sad about this. It is very difficult for me to "let go" (as those of you who know me well, know that is so true!) On the positive side, Tooele does have the newly formed Tooele Valley Theatre. We have worked closely with them and they are doing great things. Their production of MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM was definite proof of this. I am looking forward to their next production: YOU'RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN, which will take place in September. Maybe if I play my cards right they will allow me to direct a show or be in a cast at some time in the future. Community Theatre is not dead in Tooele, it has just changed hands. I believe they are very capable hands. I can't begin to thank you enough for the time and dedication you have given me and LETC. I have so many friends that I never would have met without the involvement in Theatre. Thank you, thank you my friends for all you have given this community, your families, and me. I have a special love in my heart for you.

The latest information on LaForge Encore's summer production: Well, the last word I got was that we won't be able to get into the high school auditorium until next year, 2021, so the publishing company said we could change the dates for our contract to produce Carnival. We have reset the performance dates for June 16-26, 2021. We are still waiting to see if we can get it on the school calendar, but we are hoping. I know this is a long time from now, but they let me keep the scripts and the music. Since we have not had auditions yet, we will have them next year. I might actually start scenery a little this summer, that would get us a jump on things. AND . . . your audition should be really, really prepared by next March! Sorry about this summer, it has been too long and I wish we were doing a show right now! Hang in there my theatre friends!

Ok LETC fans. We have officially been shut down for our auditions this weekend. No one will be allowed in the school or any other place we have researched. It looks like we are definitely NOT doing a show in June. We could hold on and see how the virus changes and shoot for maybe July or the first part of August. Please tell everyone you know who was going to audition and share this on your page. I am so sorry. I miss getting together with you all. Stay safe.

Ok folks, please spread the word: The school district has decided that no one will be allowed in any of the schools (except district personnel) for the next unforseeable future. The Coronavirus has shut us down. I apologize to all those who prepared a monologue and a musical number. Please share this with your friends. I will put a note on the door of the auditorium, but I don't want people to prepare something and get excited about the show. If it is less than 2 weeks we might give auditions a try, but If we wait any longer than that, we won't have enough time to prepare the show. So sorry my friends. It makes me sad. I was really looking forward to this show.

If anyone who wants to audition for CARNIVAL and is nervous about attending auditions this Thursday or Friday, you may send us a video of your singing and your monologue. You can send it to [email protected] or to my phone 435-830-2704. You need to do that by 9:00 pm Friday, March 20. However, if you are selected to come to call backs, you will be required to show up in person. I promise you we are taking all precautions to avoid close contact with others. If you are coughing, sneezing, or have difficulty breathing, regardless of the reason, please do not audition. We will work through this. I really want to do a show this summer. We will play it by ear and see what happens. Thank you all! Stay healthy.

We've extended the deadline for our Change Leader Institute for those living in the Tooele Valley to Sunday, February 23 at midnight. The Change Leader Program is a professional development course for community leaders. Participants attend a three-day immersive institute with instruction on assessing environments and the communication and facilitation skills necessary to lead change. This program would be beneficial for anyone who is working to strengthen the community of Tooele.

LETC needs a pianist for Carnival. We will begin rehearsing the first week in April. It is possible the conductor would also want you to play in the orchestra for the performers. There is a small stipend for this. PM me if you are interested. You would also need to be available for auditions on March 19, 20, 21. Sightreading would be involved. Thank you!

For more information about the story of Carnival and the characters you can go to Wikipedia, Carnival, the musical
-- you should know that the synopsis on Wikipedia talks about "sexual assault" and "su***de" - I promise you that, even though we cannot change anything in the script due to copyright laws, those two things will be greatly minimized, as neither of those words are actually in the script. Trust me.
