Meet my other art assistant, Eve (short for All Hallows Eve). 🐈‍⬛

Unlike Hook, who likes to be very involved in the creative process, Eve prefers a more… supervisory role. She usually sits just off to the side while I draw, quietly judging every artistic decision I make.

No paw interference. No paper sitting. Just pure, silent critique from across the table. Honestly, every studio needs that kind of energy. 🎨

That slow scratch of colored pencil on paper is basically my current soundtrack. 🎶✏️

This piece has taken way longer than I expected… partly because life (and other projects) keep pulling me away from it. But every time I come back to it, I fall in love with the details all over again.

I can’t show the whole drawing just yet 👀 — but here’s a little close-up so you can hear the pencil working and see those tiny layers building up.

Art takes time. And sometimes… more time than we planned. 💛

The second the colored pencils come out, Hook decides it’s officially snuggle o’clock. 🎨🐾

Apparently, purring at maximum volume is a required part of my creative process. He takes his job as Art Assistant very seriously — supervising, warming my arm, and making sure I never draw alone.

Honestly? Best support I could ask for. 💛

So excited to share that my drawing is currently on display at the Black & White Exhibit at the Eccles Art Center! 🖤🤍
This piece pushed me creatively and I’m so proud to see it hanging alongside so many talented artists. If you’re local, you can view it in person now through February.

I own a full rainbow of colored pencils…
and for this drawing I said “no thanks” to all of them.
Just black, white, and grays doing the heavy lifting.
Only a little peek for now — the rest is still under wraps 👀
Sometimes the most dramatic choice is leaving the color out.

Equal parts excitement and full-body panic.
So many ideas, not enough time, and suddenly every line feels personal.
Creating under pressure is wild — exhausting, exhilarating, and somehow still worth it when the drawing finally comes together.
Back to the studio… the deadline is staring at me 👀
