Hey Everyone!

I'm so sorry that we haven't been active in a while, and there is a reason for that:

I want everyone to give a big Congrats to John for getting an amazing job opportunity! It's in Oregon, and because we're 3,000 miles apart, running this business isn't the first thing on either of our minds.

However, we aren't going ANYWHERE! Yes, you heard me. Beyond Restoration isn't finished, and we are not closing. We are going on hiatus. It's not the best news in the world, but I promise you that we are still open for work, we just aren't pursuing projects at the moment. We can't take much work right now, and we'll have to ship the guitar across the country four times to make this happen, but, we are still around for you guys!

If you have any questions, feel free to send us a message and we'll respond ASAP!

Thank you so much for everything!
CONGRATS JOHN!

Hi Everybody!

Although you may know what we are doing, I don't think many of you know who we really are quite yet. So, I'm taking time out of my day to address all of you who are confused about everything we are.

Let me go back to the beginning. John and I met through some crazy kind of meeting of the stars fate and got to talking. One thing led to another, and we were hanging out, exchanging ideas and talking about stuff we want to do. He mentioned the idea of this company in passing and I thought it was a great idea. The opportunity for me to join didn't arise until a week or so later.

We were in the car and had about an hour and a half to ourselves when he brought up the idea of a company that creates beautiful guitars. Custom works of art that play like the most expensive and amazing of instruments. Guitars that were not only made to be beautiful, but for their sound as well. John wanted to break the tradition of typical "elitist" guitars and create something new. A new style, idea and concept. When he said "I need an artist." My only response was: "Hello my name is artist." and the company was born with strong words and a handshake.

I'm going to jump forward, but only a few days later when we are sitting across from each other and my head is spinning because we don't have a logo or a page. We have nothing to help move us forward. I ask John to give me a whole bunch of words that describe what we are trying to do, and as I am writing them down on paper one word sticks out to me: "Restoration". I'm pulling out every word that I can, grasping at straws to try and figure out what we are doing besides restoring guitars and it hits me. We are going above and beyond restoring guitars. We are giving them a new life. I look up from my sketchbook and say it out loud for the first time: "Beyond Restoration". We smiled and I immediately got to work on a logo. A guitar that showed everything the way to move: forward. So we could be reminded to push forward, to keep moving, to keep swimming. Along with two amazing custom fonts that displays our professionalism perfectly.

That conversation was the day our logo, and overall company were formed into what you see today. I started painting guitars shortly after that, and facebook started to do well.

John and I have so much planned for all of you and this company.

Please stick around and keep following us.
Thanks you all for your support!

Hey Guys!

I’ve scheduled some really awesome posts for all of you who are interested in what we are doing. I’m out of the workshop for the time being to work on Hyrule. If you need anything, send us messages!

But this is a warning: the next few photos are coming from my gross workspace of a room. You have been warned.

Thanks!

The first thing that I planned out for Rocket Shark was the Kraken. Traditionally, krakens are a blend of a giant octopus and giant squid and tears apart ships in the sea. An octopus will change colors to blend in with its environment and krakens are always depicted wrapping their tentacles around ships. These are two major factors in the design.

The color choices that I made had a lot to do with the galaxy that I painted the background with. I wanted to make it seem like the space kraken was changing colors and feeling around the guitar to find the small spaceship. The shape of the head is a cross between a squid and octopus with how it bells out slightly and its overall oblong shape.

The tentacles and the suction cups on the bottom were equal parts annoying and fun. Annoying because there was a lot of planning and highlighting and fun because wrapping them around the guitar was a really amazing experience.

The suction cups are all colored an off-white blue tinted color to mimic how they appear under the water.

When planning out the designs on the guitars, I think really hard about how I want someone to feel when they look at the guitar, and I think about how I want the person holding it to feel. I think about how it is going to look from a distance, and I do a lot of research to make elements look and feel accurate.

Rocket Shark has a few really cool elements on it that I did a lot of research for. The Kraken, the Gallifreyan Symbols, the ship, and the sharks. As the days go on, I'll break down the thought process behind each element and why I put each part where I did, and why I chose the style and colors that I did.
