In the last 3.5 years Ruth Stage became the first company in the history of American theatre to produce the Pulitzer Prize winning masterpiece Cat on a Hot Tin Roof by Tennessee Williams. Oh by the way, we did it not once but twice, earning an epic NY Times review and more importantly the trust of the Tennessee Williams Estate.
During this same period we produced Lone Star off Broadway, were invited to perform at the Tennessee Williams Festival in New Orleans, were featured on 3 Times Square billboards and earned over a dozen TV spots on networks such as CBS, NBC, FOX, NY1 and PIX 11.
We have employed Tony nominees, theatre legends, Emmy winners, Broadway stars, Drama Desk winners, Netflix stars and HBO stars. Our success is not normal for a small nonprofit! Over the past year we developed a residency in Asbury Park, NJ where we use the Jersey Shore Arts Center as our laboratory to experiment with productions in hopes of transferring them to major cities.
Our productions of The Zoo Story and At Home at the Zoo earned us the trust of the Edward Albee Estate and we are now mounting a production of At Home at the Zoo next spring in Chicago. In 2027, Ruth Stage goes national! Our most recent Asbury production of Night of January 16th earned us the trust of the Ayn Rand estate and we will now be transferring the show to NYC in the Fall.
Our donor base has grown significantly. We now host Poker Nights, golf outings and Met Gala style events to raise money for this train that shows no signs of slowing. And we have done it all in less than 48 months. What will the next 3.5 years bring??? Thank you to everyone who supports us.
