The Band Night during the Day performance for today has been cancelled due to the rain. We will not be rescheduling this performance and we hope you attend the Homecoming parade on October 9 to see both bands perform!

Welcome to the Tomah Band Family! Students attended our Beginning Band Lessons during the week of August 10th to learn an instrument for the first time ever, or to learn a new band instrument. We’re so happy you’re part of the Tomah Bands! 🎵❤️

The Kids from Wisconsin show is next Tuesday! Tickets are available at the places listed below and let’s fill the auditorium to support Mr. Knoepker and the Kids!

The Kids from Wisconsin are returning to Tomah & our very own Mr. Alex Knoepker (THS Band Director) is conductor of the stage band! Howl On!
This iconic group of singers, dancers, and instrumentalists is celebrating its 58th season showcasing Wisconsin's most talented young performers.
Two kids from Monroe County as also members of the group this year -- Patrick Larson and Roman Olbert, who attend Sparta High School, and will be their featured "hometown kids".

Come and show Mr. Knoepker some Wolf Pack love, cheer on your hometown friends, and enjoy a Broadway-caliber production, right here in Tomah!

What do Tomah Band students and teachers do over the summer? Travel to Hawaii of course! 😎 Four Tomah Band students, Katie Prihoda and Jennifer Schraufnagel are enjoying Hawaii on the Wisconsin Junior All Stars of Music trip. Highlights so far include visiting the Dole Plantation, Waimea Falls, the Polynesian Cultural Center, enjoying Shave Ice, and plenty of beach time. Yesterday students performed at Pearl Harbor next to the USS Missouri, which was an incredible experience. Way to represent Tomah in one of the coolest states ever! 🎶🎵

MEMORIAL DAY 2026

The Tomah Bands will be in attendance at two Memorial Day ceremonies on Monday, May 25 as we honor America’s fallen veterans. This year the holiday carries special meaning as we celebrate 250 years of freedom in our country. We sincerely hope you can join us as we perform at these important ceremonies.

We will honor each branch of the armed forces through the performance of their service songs. The Star-Spangled Banner will also be performed.

We hope you can join us for our final concert of the year as the Tomah High School Concert Band and Wind Ensemble present their annual Spring Band Concert. Works by Owens, Nishimura, Ticheli, Márquez, and Sousa will be featured on the concert, and our Tomah High School band students have been working hard to prepare this challenging repertoire.

Join us Saturday, May 16 at 7:00pm in the Tomah High School auditorium, where we’ll also honor our 2026 graduating seniors that have given us so much over the years!

Congratulations to Tomah MS/HS Band Director Ms. Jennifer Schraufnagel for her successful defense of her Masters Thesis! We are so proud of you, and we are lucky to have you in our department!

🎶 Congratulations to Jen Schraufnagel on her successful Master of Music Education thesis defense, "High School Instrumental Ensemble Students' Perceptions of Autonomy-Supportive Instructional Practices." 🎶

Jen would like to thank her committee: Dr. Patrick Lawrence (Campus Band Conductor and Low Brass and Music Education Professor), Dr. Beatriz Aguilar (Assistant Professor and Director of Music Education), and Dr. Laura Dunbar (Associate Professor and Music Education Coordinator at UWEC), who served as Jen's thesis advisor.

SPRING JAZZ CONCERT TONIGHT!

Join our THS Jazz Ensemble “White” and Jazz Ensemble “Gold” as they present their annual spring jazz concert TONIGHT, May 8!

Both ensembles have put in many hours of hard work, including rehearsal at 7am twice per week for the past five months! Come and support your local musicians in the finale of our jazz ensemble season.

Next on our March recap is the Band O Rama concert!

Each ensemble did a great job on their music and the concert culminated in a mass band performance with about 400 students performing Ghostbusters!

All the bands now are preparing their music for their spring concerts. Make sure you attend the TMS Band Concerts on Tuesday May 12 and the THS Band Concert on Saturday May 16!
