It all started in 1977 when a little girl first stepped into a dance studio. She stood in the middle of a room, surrounded by ribbons and trophies, some taller then she. From that moment, she knew dance would forever be a part of her life. My name is Donna Kramer-Almon and I am unlike any dancer you will ever meet, and you are about to find out why. Most dancers will define their success by how ma
ny trophies or titles they have won. For instance, I could begin by telling you that I joined Ballet South at the age of thirteen, where I performed in Snow White, Cappelia, Swan Lake, and The Nut-Cracker. During this time I had the opportunity and the pleasure to perform with some of the best dancers in the world. I could also tell you how I trained at Pennsylvania Ballet for six years. I could also tell you that in1991, I won the New Jersey’s Governor’s Award as well as the Arts-NJ Project Impact. While these accomplishments are important to me, they are trivial compared to the world of knowledge I have gained from my experiences. I, however, define my success by how many lives I have influenced though dance. I stared teaching at the age of sixteen and have worked for many studios. In 1996, I opened Eastern Dance Studio. This was an opportunity to share what I have learned with the hearts of children. It is the most rewarding to me to be part of a child’s ever changing life. To be there when they finally get that step they’ve been struggling with for months. To re-assures them that it’s okay to be nervous for their first or twentieth performance. I’ve been through it all with kids. Through every competition, gold medals as well as tears disappointment. Through the cruise to Cozumel MX and dancing in Disney, which they swore they’d never get through, but did. To the night of their recital and shine like the stars they are. I opened a second location accomplishing another goal that I set for myself. In 2009 my husband’s job relocated him here to TX. Closing my studio was one of the hardest things I have done in my life. That being said after a year to think about were life has taking me I realized my place in this world is teaching children to dance. Every new student that walks through the doors of Fierce Motions In Dance is not only going to be a better dancer, they are going to become a better person. If I can walk away from all of this knowing I taught one child what it means to work as a team, And another the difference between right and wrong and how individual actions effect the feelings and lives of others around us, then I have done my part as a teacher. Times such as those are what teaching is about. So, the next time you see a little girl in total awe of her surroundings, whether it be in a dance studio or on a baseball field, I bet you’ll think of my little story. And I bet you’ll wonder silently to yourself, ‘will she be an Olympic Star? Will she be on Broadway? Or will she be the best teacher in the world? My destiny led me to become the best teacher I can be. And to guide children towards their goals in life. Fierce Motions in Dance is a studio Dedicated to Children for learning, caring, and discipline. In conclusion thank you for letting us be part of your child’s life.
