Tonight we celebrate the remarkable career of Valrie Kantorski, who retires after more than three decades as the Toledo Symphonyโ€™s primary keyboard musician and holder of the Jonathan F. Orser Chair for Keyboard.

A distinguished performer, educator, collaborator, and Steinway Ensemble Artist, Valrie's artistry has enriched countless performances and inspired generations of musicians. Beyond the stage, she has shared her passion through teaching, mentoring, and a lifelong curiosity about the worldโ€”from international travel to Americaโ€™s national parks.

Thank you, Valrie, for your extraordinary contributions to the Toledo Symphony and our community. Congratulations on a well-earned retirement!

This evening we celebrate the extraordinary career of Patricia Budner, whose artistry has been a part of the Toledo Symphony since 1974.

For more than five decades, Pat has brought excellence, versatility, and dedication to our orchestra, serving not only as a member of the first violin section, but also stepping into leadership roles as Assistant Concertmaster, Associate Concertmaster, and Concertmaster when called upon. Her contributions have extended beyond the stage through chamber music performances, teaching, and many years of service in the orchestra's personnel department.

Thank you, Pat, for your remarkable commitment to the Toledo Symphony and for the music, leadership, and professionalism you have shared with generations of colleagues and audiences. Congratulations on an extraordinary career and a well-deserved retirement.

Inspired by the iconic Texas roadside art installation of the same name, Cadillac Ranch transforms 10 buried Cadillacs into a vibrant orchestral journey through American culture, music, and the spirit of the open road.

Written in celebration of the installationโ€™s 50th anniversary, the piece unfolds as a continuous set of 10 variations, one for each Cadillac, with musical styles and soundscapes inspired by the eras those classic cars represent. From rhythmic pulses to soaring orchestral color, Daugherty captures the energy, nostalgia, and imagination of an American landmark that has fascinated travelers for generations.

First concertmaster of the Berlin Philharmonic and an internationally celebrated soloist, Noah Bendix-Balgley brings his own extraordinary work, Fidl-Fantazye: A Klezmer Concerto, to The Peristyle this weekend.

Inspired by the klezmer music that shaped his childhood, Fidl-Fantazye blends virtuosic violin playing with improvisation, folk dance traditions, deep emotion, and vibrant orchestral color. Orchestrated by renowned composer Samuel Adler, the piece moves seamlessly through three connected movements filled with soaring melodies, spirited dances, and exhilarating energy.

From deeply expressive improvisations to a wild race-to-the-finish finale, this is a work that celebrates storytelling, heritage, and the joy of music-making.
