Today, our Teaching Professions seniors headed out for their first day of internships with teachers throughout Washington Local Schools! Equal parts excited and nervous, these future educators were ready to learn, build connections, and take their next steps toward the front of the classroom.

Thank you to our mentor teachers for welcoming them! We can’t wait to watch our seniors grow!

Our Teaching Professions juniors and seniors took their learning on the road with a visit to BGSU!

Students had the opportunity to explore the different education programs BGSU offers and learn more about what their future could look like as an education major.

One of the highlights of the day was experiencing Mursion, BGSU’s virtual classroom simulation! Students were able to step into the role of a teacher and interact with simulated students … getting a glimpse of how future educators can practice real classroom situations in a safe, supportive environment.

It was a great day of exploring, learning, and getting excited about what’s ahead for our future educators!

Our Teaching Professions juniors have been learning all about the qualities and characteristics that make a teacher truly effective, and this project brought those lessons to LIFE…literally!

Students created a life-size version of what they feel is an effective teacher. Then they identified what an effective teacher sees, hears, and says, along with at least 15 qualities that make their chosen teacher so effective.

From patient and understanding to confident, compassionate, and open-minded, our students recognized that great teaching is about so much more than delivering a lesson.

The best part? They had SO much fun creating these!

Who knew a tiny pin could create so many memories?

Our Whitmer Teaching Professions students had an absolute blast trading pins with students from schools across the United States at Educators Rising National Conference 2026. Every trade came with a conversation, a new connection, and a chance to proudly represent Whitmer and Ohio.

What a journey these two have been on! 🎨📚🥈

A huge congratulations to BRAELYN COUSINO and RANSOM ZENTGRAF for earning 2ND PLACE in the NATION in Children’s Literature K-3 at the 2026 Educators Rising National Conference!

As future art teachers, Braelyn and Ransom combined their talents to write and illustrate a children’s book, not just this year, but last year too! This is their second straight year qualifying for Nationals in this event.

Last year, they placed 10th in the nation. This year, they took things to a whole new level and brought home a 2nd-place national finish!!!!!!!!!!

We’ve watched them spend hours brainstorming ideas, creating illustrations, making revisions, and bringing their story to life. Seeing all of that hard work pay off is so exciting. We are SO PROUD of your accomplishments!

FIRST PLACE IN THE NATION!!!!

Today, Toshionna Forbes was named the National Champion in Lesson Planning Humanities at the 2026 Educators Rising National Conference!

Toshionna has worked incredibly hard throughout her time in our Teaching Professions program, and seeing that hard work pay off in such a big way is amazing. She has a true passion for teaching and is always willing to go above and beyond.

Watching her grow over the years and now earn a 1st Place national title is something we are so proud of. This is a huge accomplishment, and it couldn’t have happened to a more deserving student.

Congratulations, Toshionna! Your Whitmer Teaching Professions family is cheering you on every step of the way. ❤️
