Tangent's Michael Rhodes started his professional acting career with, let's call it, a quiet part - working alongside giants in American theater. Slight spoiler alert, but there is a "boy" in THREE TALL WOMEN. It's his presence, a vital role with no lines, that drives the story forward.

We're reading a different kind of script next weekend. Join the FLAG DAY celebration in Tivoli on Sunday June 14th, a day full of honor and intrigue (plus music and treats!) as we look to the nation's 250th birthday.

▶️ What's on tap? Three actors from our ensemble will read the Declaration of Independence. This seems like a good time to reflect upon its message, as we bring the words to life.

Sunday line-up:
▪️10:30am - St. Paul’s and Trinity Parish Service, Woods Road
▪️12pm - Village Hall gazebo meet up, with Tangent Theatre Company special presentation 🇺🇸
▪️1pm - Games with Tivoli Free Library | food & refreshments served | music by The Hootenanny
▪️2pm - Flag burning ceremony
▪️2:30pm - Tivoli Community Chorus sings!
▪️3pm - Red Church on 9G with special guests, including Mayor Emily Majer

An arts grant? Yes! 🎉 We were recently awarded a project grant through Arts Mid-Hudson, as part of a 2026 NYSCA program. Thanks to the Village of Tivoli, who sponsored us, we were able to make this special award happen.

What are we doing? ⭐️ We'll be presenting a more ambitious show in the early fall. It will be our trademark reading style, but with a larger cast, more rehearsals and bigger budget - to be performed at Village Hall in Tivoli (naturally). This generous grant helps us get there. We'll announce more details over the summer.

A standing ovation to Mayor Emily Majer and the Board of Trustees - and Clerk Kris Cleaveland - for all their support.

This project is made possible with funds from the New York State Legislature and administered by Arts Mid-Hudson.

PS - our friend and local Tivoli artist Vaea Dang (vaeadang.com) also received a grant from this program! With Tivoli Artists Gallery and Kaatsbaan in our midst, along with other artists, studios, musicians and more, there's an abundance of creativity here. ❤️

Superstars! Thank you to everyone who donated to our SPRING MATCH fundraiser last week! 🎉 Twenty fellow organizations in the Fractured Atlas universe (our fiscal sponsor) were chosen at random to receive $1,000. Thanks to you, you increased our chances to be selected - and importantly, we far exceeded our expectations for funds raised overall. This gives us such a boost!

Though we just learned we did not receive the extra $, we did get all the love. This special campaign let us reach out in a very meaningful way. Yes! 💖 Congrats to the other projects - well deserved. Thank you again as we raised impressive dollars to help with our readings this year.

⭐️ A hint perhaps? We'll be announcing our June show shortly. It's possible the decorative, upscale card featured in the image here is an obscure clue: posh, elegant, refined. It was also one of the scenes read for Tangent @ 25 last fall. Stay tuned.
