Moving along in the studio as I create new trees and snowmen for the upcoming Holiday Open Studio weekend on Dec. 6-7. Please put it on your schedule and come see all the work in person. It’s an opportunity to see all of our amazing antique Christmas items all over our home studio and experience what inspires me as an artist living and working in that space.

One of 36 storypaintings from my Pollinator Series that I started 10 years ago. This is my favorite from the series. Museum exhibited and award winning painting that is in our collection. The others in the series are in collections across the country. SOLD

Heart in Hand has a long, wonderful history with Shaker communities and folk art.

Thirty years ago I was obsessed with painting hundreds of these small trinket boxes. I think we have one in our collection after all that work! It surely was a beautiful, colorful scene when they were presented as a group.

This is what Storypainting is all about, using your imagination to create a narrative that feeds off of your own life experiences. This work utilizes a vintage chalkboard that I have fond memories of using as a child in the 1960s. In this story, I’ve adapted that into an Adam & Eve story in this painting called Birds & Bees and the ABCs.

Vintage frames!
Yes, I’m always looking for antique/vintage frames for my Storypaintings.
Most artists frame their work after the painting is completed.
I work the other way around by discovering a special frame that “speaks to me” with a painting in mind. It’s a connection that I find more exciting in the creative process.
