Horseland Maryland Horse Industry partners brings Horseland to the Maryland State Fair!

Maryland Horse Industry partners will once again host 11 days of free equine educational and entertainment events during the Maryland State Fair near the Grandstand. The festival is in addition to the seven days of Thoroughbred racing, daily horse and breed shows, the bull riding and barrel racing show, horse pulling contests, and the pony and mule races already featured at the fair in Timonium, M

D. During the 11-days of the fair, the tented Horseland, located between the Carnival Kiddie Land and the Grandstand, will feature a variety of equine demonstrations, children’s activities, and a pony and donkeys. Horse Discovery Center's will be there and you can find out how YOU can have horses in your life. Youth visitors can make stick horses and be able to race them on a kiddie-size racetrack as well as jump over a small obstacle course. In addition, an Equicizer will be available for folks to get the feel of riding a horse. Daily demonstrations in the Horse Land will include: horseshoeing, horse braiding, grooming and tacking and more. Maryland’s top horse associations will feature interactive booths featuring topics such as therapeutic riding activities, racing, breeding and raising horses, horse rescues, military riding, equine studies, search and rescue, rodeo and more. Visitors to Horseland can also join tours of the racetrack given by horse industry leaders and jockeys during live race days, to explore the colorful activities taking place and to join handicapping sessions on how to pick a winner.

Horseland’s Backstretch Racetrack tours at the Maryland State Fair are back!! Please sign up using the sign up link or you can come day of and sign up in the Horseland tent. Tours will leave at 1015,1045 and 1115. We hope to see you at the fair!

Great news! Backstretch Tours are returning to the “Big T” (Timonium Racecourse) during the Maryland State Fair. MSF Board Member and former Preakness Sunrise Tours Guide Fran Burns will host the tours that enable fairgoers to get up close and personal with the starter and the starting gate, meet Outrider Kaymarie Kreidel, pick their favorite horse in the barns, and visit the renowned Track Kitchen.
