White Throated Sparrow

White-throated Sparrow 20” x 16” Acrylic on Canvas by Pamela Watson Painted after a quiet early spring encounter at Lake Roland Park in Baltimore County, this original acrylic painting captures a White-throated Sparrow partially hidden among fresh spring vegetation during migration season. The painting was inspired by a chilly morning spent listening to the woods fill with birdsong as migrating songbirds moved through the landscape....

Held In Still Water

Held in Still Water16" x 20" Acrylic on Canvasby Pamela Watson A Great Blue Heron stands quietly on a rock, surrounded by calm water and a field of layered greens. Backlit by soft light, the bird is both defined and transformed—its edges softened, its presence steady and intentional. This piece began with a moment of observation during a painting event in Zionsville, Indiana, where the artist captured her first successful photograph of a heron....

Where Patience Becomes Light

Where Patience Becomes Light11" x 14" Acrylic on Canvasby Pamela Watson A moment of stillness becomes something luminous in this evocative acrylic painting by Pamela Watson. A Blue Heron stands poised in shallow water, its long legs partially submerged, its body held in perfect patience as it waits for the next ripple of opportunity. Redwing in the Morning Haze

Redwing in the Morning Haze 8.5" x 5.5" Watercolor on Paper This small watercolor painting captures a quiet, misty morning moment that has stayed with me. On the drive home after dropping my granddaughter off at school, a foggy landscape and an urgent roadside stop led to an unexpected encounter with a flock of red-winged blackbirds. Perched in the trees, the birds loudly scolded my presence as they defended their territory....

In Search of Crumbs

In Search of Crumbs 7" x 5" Acrylic on Paper This small 7" x 5" acrylic painting was inspired by a visit to Hamilton, Ontario, where Canada geese wandered comfortably along a shaded riverside path. In this scene, a goose bends down in the dappled light, searching the ground for small treats left behind by passing visitors. Painted in deep, rich greens and earthy browns, the composition captures the quiet atmosphere beneath the tree canopy....

Feathered Bathers

Feathered Bathers – 30" x 24" Acrylic on Canvas This 30" x 24" acrylic painting was inspired by a sunny June day in Hamilton, Ontario, when I painted in an estuary under a shade tree. A lively group of geese and three serene swans kept me company, at one point surrounding my easel as I observed their playful interactions along the riverbank and in the water....

🎨 New Painting Complete!

My newest piece takes me back to June 2025, when I traveled to Hamilton, Ontario for a paint-out. I set up my easel in an estuary under a shady tree, and for hours, a lively party of geese and three swans kept me company — even surrounding me at one point! Their playful interactions along the river and in the water reminded me of Georges Pierre Seurat’s Bathers at Asnières, and I knew I wanted to capture the scene someday.

I took a video that day and finally got brave enough to turn it into this 30” x 24” acrylic painting. I had fun rearranging the geese and swans to convey the feeling of that day — my “bathers” may have feathers, but it really felt like a riverside beach party to me.

I hope this painting brings you a little of the same joy and calm that I felt while making it. 💚💙

Blue Heron Refuge

Blue Heron Refuge — Original Acrylic Painting (20” x 16”) This original 20” x 16” acrylic painting captures a blue heron standing quietly in the heart of the Everglades, nearly concealed by dense swamp, water, and towering trees. Sunlight strikes the foliage while blue sky reflects across the water’s surface, creating a striking contrast between brightness and mood — a landscape that feels both luminous and protective....
