Hi Mommas,

As the school year winds down (finally!), and before all of our stay-at-home orders are lifted, would any of your people be interested in a virtual sewing class? I’m thinking about doing a week-long class in which you would pick up a bag containing all of the supplies necessary for a sewing project. Then, I would send you 5 mini sewing lesson videos for your little to follow along with, since coordinating multiple zoom lesson times might get tricky. I would also be available for a facetime check-in. Does this sound like something your kids might enjoy? I welcome your input!

Hi, friends! I've heard that MCR is calling for fabric masks, and I think many other local hospitals will soon approve these, too. Would you and your little (or biggish) people be interesting in joining me (online) in sewing some masks?

These would be SUPER simple to sew for your tweens/teens, for adults, or for littles with some adult assistance.

My oldest daughter hasn’t embroidered in a while, and wanted to make an embroidered wall hanging for her baby cousin.

This is her first major embroidery project in years, and I’m impressed by her initial efforts at backstitching (it’s hidden under the satin stitching now) and satin stitching. Her project is only halfway done. I’ll post more as it progresses.

Have you ever embroidered? Would you like to learn how?

Embroidery is MUCH easier than it looks, and the results are stunning!

Every day of sewing camp is our favorite, but there’s something about day three that’s simply magical.

Everyone has learned enough basic skills to know what they want to make AND how to make it. Each student ends up gathering their supplies and getting in the zone for a while as they create just what they’ve imagined. There’s music in the background, and students are quick to jump in and help each other tie off a string or thread a needle or find a button if I’m busy.

These little makers amaze us every time.

“I can’t get my owl to look right.”

Sister: “Just use your imagination! See, my legs weren’t right on my kitty, so I made it into frosting. So now it’s a cupcake kitty!”

This is the last scheduled week of camp, and there is so much fun to be had!!!!

Look at these sewists! We learned to thread a needle, to hand sew, to sew on a button, and how to use a pattern!

To clarify:

Next week, June 25-28, we’ll be having 2 camps!

Our Thimbles class (ages 6-9), will be making stuffed animals and drawstring backpacks. Classes are from 8:15 AM - 10:15 AM, Tues-Fri.

Our Topstitches class (ages 10+), will be making messenger bags. Classes are from 11 AM - 2:00 PM, Tues-Fri.

All classes are held at Colorado Feed and Grain, in downtown Timnath, upstairs above the coffee shop. We would LOVE to see your child there!!

Current inspiration:

So, we’ve loaded up on canvas and allllllll the findings, including some amazing brass buckles and rivets. Plus, we’re gonna stencil our names on them. It’s going to be ridiculously fun. Whether your kids use them to hold a snack, nerf bullets, or their recent library finds, it’ll be the coolest thing they make this summer.

These girls. 3 days into sewing camp and they are threading needles like pros, tying off their thread, sewing on buttons, and drafting patterns for every tiny detail of their stuffed animals.

Oh, and doing a few ballet leaps when a favorite song comes on ❤️
