It is with a heavy heart that we announce that the Year of the Dragon 2024 mural on The Alibi was the last mural painted under the Tville Mural Project. My wife Adrienne and I have been working very hard over the past year and a half to bring a total of 13 murals to Downtown Thomasville all of them except one were created for free with supplies being the only thing covered. We spent an estimated 280 hours painting the 13 murals for our city and have enjoyed each and every minute. We have helped bring several news stories and news articles to the city of Thomasville as well as getting the murals recognized for our city on a world-wide database for street art bringing even more attention to our small town.
In 2023 we tried to get more businesses and building owners to donate wall space where they would in turn receive a free mural for their building or business but unfortunately nobody answered the call for more wall space. So, this along with losing the sponsorship of our biggest supporter that helped pay for the paint and supplies has forced us to make the decision that the Tville Mural Project has run its course in Thomasville. Adrienne and I hope to at least continue painting a revolving mural on the Alibi throughout the year as long as we can raise funds to at the very least pay for the paint and supplies to continue painting the revolving murals that everyone has come to love.
We will continue to accept commissions for murals from local businesses interested in getting them and we have already started talking with other cities; they will just not be under the Tville Mural Project brand. We want to thank everyone that has loved the murals and art online and have come to take pictures with the murals and have appreciated the art that we have given to the city. We also want to give a huge thank you to our supporters Downtown Thomasville NC, Thomasville NC Tourism and Finch House Music Series. We also want to thank The Alibi, Misty's Healthy Bakery, Communities in Schools Thomasville and the Cooperative Community Ministry, all the businesses and organizations that have donated wall space for our project.
