inese, 6 pizza places, 2 art galleries, an opera house, and lots of sidewalks! Many of the businesses will be offering specials and you can walk or drive if you wish to each. Join us for Art, Music, Entertainment, Recreation, Food, and Beverages. Walking 5-10 miles on sidewalks, quiet country roads, and parks is a snap here in Thomaston. Go For a hike at Thomaston Dam at and Black Rock State Park. Black Rock is 444 acres, the Thomaston Dam is located on the scenic Naugatuck River in Thomaston. The park offers over 800 acres of public land for a multitude of recreational activities. Hunting, fishing, trail bike riding (two-wheel only), and model airplane flying are among the popular activities. Stop in any of the breakfast and coffee shops before or after your hike. Purchase your Thomaston Eats Card for The Thomaston Crawl. Proceeds benefit the Opera House. $25 dollars gets you a 20% discount at participating restaurants. Thomaston EATS! takes the concept of a traditional “Taste of the Town” food festival, and adapts the event to be both safe and successful in these difficult times. Rather than holding one event where large crowds might congregate to taste local restaurants’ offerings. Landmark will sell the discount dining cards online for $25 each and mail them directly to purchasers. Bearers of the card will then be entitled to a one-time discount of 20% off at each participating restaurant (some exclusions may apply). This year, participating Thomaston restaurants are: Black Rock Tavern & Restaurant, Ciao Ristorante & Bar, Clocktown Brewing Company, Crabby Al’s Seafood Restaurant, Cutie Pies, Hometown Pizza III, Mona Lisa Ristorante, Patti’s Place, Thai in Love, and Tramonti Ristorante. This Facebook group will feature participating restaurants, and allow them to post specials and engage with the community on an ongoing basis. The group will be open to the public for viewing, but only Thomaston EATS! cardholders will be eligible for giveaways of gift certificates that have been donated by participating restaurants. In addition to the restaurants listed above, Tony’s Coffee Express has generously donated gift cards to be given away at random to cardholding Thomaston EATS! members. Since the start of the pandemic, performing arts venues and the restaurant industry have suffered tremendous financial losses. Landmark Community Theatre, a nonprofit arts organization which operates out of the historic Thomaston Opera House, has had to rely more than ever on fundraising and the generous support of its donors. Proceeds from this fundraiser will help support the mission of Landmark Community Theatre; to offer opportunities where the community may produce, participate in and enjoy the performing arts; to educate all ages in theater and music, and to preserve and the Opera House as a historic landmark and community space. It is Landmark’s sincerest hope that this fundraiser will also encourage the community to both discover new Thomaston restaurants, and continue to support their local favorites. https://www.facebook.com/groups/thomastoneats
