What is a Chautauqua program? Traditionally, it is an educational lecture or opportunity that is part of a larger festival, having originated at a festival in Chautauqua, NY.

Voices From The Earth offers Chautauqua-style performances featuring notable historical figures. Performers present a 30- to 40-minute first-person story, followed by an in-character Q&A session.

Our costumed performers have visited various institutions, including schools, libraries, festivals, and civic organizations. Please visit our website to view our performer roster and the characters they portray.

Storytelling is an art form that defies a single approach. Ilene Evans, our artistic director, brings a unique blend of dance, mime, and theater experience to her storytelling. Her recent work with campers at the Come Weave A Tale Storytelling Camp, hosted by the West Virginia Storytelling Guild at the Folklife Center on the campus of Fairmont State University, showcases her talent.
