This semester has been off to a rough start. Between the storm, sickness, and other issues I’ve barley had any time in the studio. Happily I’ve finally gotten into the grove working on personal work and finally getting around to commissions. I can’t wait I can finally fire my first soda of the semester at the start of next month.

Finally got access to some photos I took last semester for a new line of work I’m developing. Self portrait on my pottery. I’ve always loved figure drawing and wanted to start interpreting that into my functional pottery. I’m hopping to expand this to different poses and portraits of people as I continue to develop this semester. It still has a long ways to go before I can be happy with it. But for now I’m excited for the direction I’m going.

This is plate set from last semester fired in soda. The forms include two plates, cup, saucer, bowl, and tumble. I am still working on reducing the rutile in the glaze or finding a wash to reduce the "blooming effect" as i call it on the flat forms.

These are the bowl forms from the soda firing too. There are 7 of these bowl forms. Hopefully as I continue on I can nail down a companion glaze for these forms. I love the depth that these hold as well.
