One of the things I've come to believe is that community can literally save lives.

Sometimes it starts with something really simple.

A neighbor checking in.
A friend making the phone call.
A business owner taking the time to listen.
A first responder knowing where to point someone for help.
A nonprofit putting the right resource in someone's hands.

We don't always know who's struggling. And we don't always know what someone needs.

But when a community is connected, we're more likely to notice.

That's a big part of why we're building GCU Events and Family Fun Day.

We want to bring people together in a way that feels natural—through music, food, fun, conversation and real relationships—and make sure people know that help is available when they need it.

You never know when a simple conversation might be the one that changes everything.

That's the kind of community I want to be part of.

How about you?

One of the things I love most about building Family Fun Day is seeing what happens when a community comes together.

It's not just one organization making a difference.

It's local businesses showing up.

Nonprofits sharing their mission.

Volunteers giving their time.

First responders connecting with families.

Neighbors meeting neighbors.

Every person who gets involved adds something valuable, and together we create something that's bigger than any one of us could do alone.

That's what community is all about.

I'm excited to see more people, organizations, and businesses join us as we continue to grow this mission.

After all, the strongest communities aren't built by one person—they're built by people who care enough to show up.

When people hear "Family Fun Day," they usually think of games, music, food, and a fun day out.

And they're right.

But what I hope people remember isn't just what they did...

It's who they met.

Maybe it's a local nonprofit that opens the door to a resource they didn't know existed.

Maybe it's a first responder they get to thank in person.

Maybe it's another family that becomes a new friendship.

Or maybe it's just a conversation that reminds someone they're not alone.

That's the kind of event we're working hard to create.

A place where fun brings people together, and connection becomes the best part of the day.

I can't wait to see it all come to life.

One of my favorite parts of writing a song is the moment it finally says what I couldn't put into a normal conversation.

Some feelings don't fit into a sentence.

But somehow they fit into a melody.

Every song I write carries a little piece of my journey—some of the highs, some of the struggles, and a whole lot of hope.

If my music reminds even one person that they're not walking through life alone, then every late night with a guitar was worth it.

🎸 Music has a way of finding people exactly when they need it.

What's a song you'll never get tired of listening to?

People ask me why I write music.

The answer is pretty simple...

Sometimes a song can reach someone in a way a conversation can't.

I've had people tell me they heard a lyric at exactly the right time. Others have shared that a song reminded them they weren't alone.

That's why I keep writing.

The music and GCU Events really come from the same place—a hope that something I create might encourage someone to keep going.

If one song or one conversation makes a difference, it's worth it.

Confession:

Planning a community event means your brain starts doing weird things.

You stop noticing normal stuff and start thinking things like:

"Would a bounce house fit over there?"
"How many food trucks is too many food trucks?"
"Do adults secretly want to win scavenger hunts too?"

(For the record, I think we all know the answer to that last one.)

Building GCU Events has taught me a lot, but one thing for sure:

People are hungry for community.

And honestly, so am I.

I had a conversation recently that stuck with me.

Someone said, "People just don't connect with each other like they used to."

The more I thought about it, the harder it was to argue with.

We know more people than ever.
We're connected to hundreds or thousands online.
But somehow a lot of people still feel alone.

Maybe that's why community matters so much.

Not because it's a nice idea.

Because people need people.

Sometimes the best thing you can offer someone isn't advice or answers.

Sometimes it's simply showing up.
Listening.
Remembering their name.
Making them feel like they matter.

Honestly, that's a big part of the heart behind GCU Events.

We're not trying to build events for the sake of events.

We're trying to create places where connection happens naturally.

Where neighbors become friends.
Where nonprofits meet the people they serve.
Where families make memories.
Where someone who needed encouragement finds it without even realizing they were looking for it.

That's worth building.

What's one thing someone did for you that made you feel seen or valued?

Those moments stick with us longer than we realize.

DO YOU WANT TO HELP OR AT LEAST HELP SUPPORT THOSE AROUND YOU WHO ARE STRUGGLING MENTALLY BUT JUST DON'T KNOW HOW?

"In our fast-paced world filled with daily stress, hidden struggles, and ever increasing mental health challenges, many of us want to help but aren't sure how to do it. This book offers a gentle, but practical guide for recognizing when someone is hurting and knowing how to respond with care and confidence!"

There are numerous color photos of our music/speaking journeys through the USA as we toured, Alaska to Florida, California, Colorado, etc.

I am working on a slide presentation now for speaking, and we will be shooting the free training videos to enhance the book and study guide section soon that will be on YouTube and Rumble. There are references in the book for more info, too.

In this book, I discuss the physical body, the mental, and the spirit realms, putting them all together to help understand the complexities that we are faced with daily.

Reserve your copy now and be one of the first. Hold your own meetings to go through the book and help your family and friends.

One thing I've learned from talking with people over the years is this:

You never really know what someone is carrying.

The person making everyone laugh at work.
The friend who always says, "I'm good."
The neighbor who waves every morning.
The guy standing in line next to you for coffee.

Sometimes the people who look the strongest are fighting battles nobody can see.

That's one of the reasons I believe so strongly in community.

Not the social media version.

The real version.

Checking on people.
Knowing your neighbors.
Having conversations that go beyond "How's it going?"
Creating places where people feel comfortable enough to be honest.

That's a big part of what we're trying to build with GCU Events and Family Fun Day.

A fun day with music, food, activities, and entertainment is great.

But if it also creates one meaningful conversation...
If it helps one family find a resource...
If one person walks away feeling seen...

That's the win.

So here's my question for you:

Who is someone that made a difference in your life simply because they showed up when you needed them?

Tag them if you can. They deserve to know.

A few years ago, if you had told me I'd be helping organize a community event focused on mental wellness, su***de prevention, first responders, and families...

I probably would've laughed and asked what you were talking about.

Life has a funny way of taking you places you never expected.

What I've learned along the way is that almost everyone is carrying something. Stress. Loss. Anxiety. Family struggles. Financial pressure. Questions nobody else knows they're asking.

And most people are carrying it a lot quieter than we realize.

That's why Family Fun Day means so much to me.

Sure, there will be music, food, activities, vendors, and plenty of things for families to enjoy.

But underneath all of that is something much bigger.

It's about creating a place where people can connect.

A place where someone might discover a resource they didn't know existed.

A place where a conversation starts.

A place where a person realizes they're not as alone as they thought.

That's the kind of community I want to help build.

What about you?

What's one thing you wish there was more of in our communities today?
