What a wonderful afternoon of creativity! 🎨

Last week, I had the pleasure of teaching a beginner paint-pouring class for the Dabney Dames. Each student created three pieces—a coaster, a trivet and a 10×10 canvas—while experimenting with color, movement and several different pouring techniques.

The room was filled with laughter, encouragement and plenty of beautiful surprises. I loved watching everyone gain confidence and discover their own creative style. No two pieces were alike, and the results were absolutely gorgeous!

Thank you to everyone who joined me and made my first Flowing Lotus Art class such a success. I learned a great deal from the experience, too, and I’m already thinking about a future class featuring Dutch pours and blooms.

I’m thrilled to share that my painting, Rhythm in Her Roots, has been selected for The Power of the ARTS: Best of the Best exhibition at the Brick City Center for the Arts in Ocala! 🎨✨

This piece celebrates feminine strength, creativity, and the beauty of becoming fully rooted in who we are. I’m honored to have it included among the selected works.

Sometimes the paintings that challenge you the most give you the most satisfaction. Whispers in Silver is most certainly one of those. I am delighted with how it turned out… nearly two years into the process. It really forced me out of my comfort zone and made me try some new things. This morning’s resin treatment made the whole thing come alive. Making art makes me happy.

It is a 12x16 Acrylic and mixed media on canvas with hand cast and painted resin and custom 3D-printed botanical embellishments, iridescent and metallic pigments, and glitter.

Often the big and bold get posted. Today I wanted to share one of my favorite tiny treasures, Little Winged Reverie. He reminds me of my persistent bird visitor from Ivyland who kept me company in my dark days… We all need a little friend like that.

Monica Darling is a Florida-based abstract artist and the creator of Flowing Lotus Art. Working primarily with fluid acrylics, resin, and mixed media, she transforms movement, color, and organic forms into richly layered paintings inspired by flowers, water, natural landscapes, and the quiet strength of the
feminine spirit.

Her process pairs the freedom of fluid painting with intentional detail and composition. A luminous resin finish intensifies the color and depth of many works, allowing new forms and details to emerge with every viewing.

Monica's work has been recognized at the Apopka Art and Foliage Festival, where Pop Goes the Floral received an Honorable Mention and an earlier painting received the Mayor's Choice Award. Her art is exhibited throughout
Central Florida and is available at the Inverness Art Co-op.
