Meet us, the co‑owners of The Statuary — Rachel Ryll (CEO) and Ted Chubb (Artistic Director) — partners in life, in music, and in the work of shaping this space we love. Together, we bring decades of experience in community building, arts administration, and professional musicianship to guide The Statuary. Over the past 5 years we have hosted thousands of our friends, neighbors, community members, and general music lovers to over 50+ concerts in our home situated in Jersey City Heights.

As CEO, Rachel leads our strategy, partnerships, and community engagement. Her focus is on accessibility, artist support, and cultivating an intimate environment where creativity can thrive. Over the past several years, she has strengthened The Statuary’s identity as a home for diverse programming, free community concerts, and artist‑centered initiatives that reflect the cultural richness of Jersey City.

As Artistic Director, Ted curates the musical direction and production of the venue, drawing on his long career as a jazz trumpeter, bandleader, educator, and arts executive. His programming highlights world‑class musicians, emerging artists, and cross‑genre collaborations that honor the depth and breadth of today’s jazz landscape.

Together, we steward The Statuary as a live, work, and presentation space dedicated to authenticity, inclusion, and the shared experience of live music. This partnership — and the energy behind it — is what will carry us into our sixth year at The Statuary. We look forward to welcoming you at The Statuary.

Help our partners keep bringing music to the people in 2026!

In 2025 The Statuary has partnered on 11 shows with Riverview Jazz. The Jersey City Jazz Festival had another successful year at Exchange Place Plaza but the Latin Jazz Festival had an inclement weather event (our first in 12 years!) but when you operate on a shoe string budget this has left Riverview with a significant shortfall of income this year so please join us in your holiday giving - đź”— in bio.
