At long last, a recap of our last 2024 Texas Pinball Festival event: Win the Leprechaun's Gold!
This was a fun "card based qualifying" tournament. Entries were $5 per card, with $2 to the prize fund, $2 to the NTX Community Food Pantry, and $1 to the IFPA - International Flipper Pinball Association.
A total of 67 players played 145 cards to qualify. Some of the top 32 did not show on Sunday for finals, which was a delight to several people further down in the standings who were able to play in the finals.
After 9 Rounds of Qualifying, the top 4(+) were:
1st (33.66 WPPRs): Cary F
2nd (26.04 WPPRs): Nikolas P
Tied for 3rd (18.88 WRPRS): Ryan A, Eric A, Johnathan M, Rick M
The players in third played off to see who would win the third (Ryan A) and 4th (Eric A) place trophies.
In total, we raised $1,054 for the NTX Community Food Pantry by hosting these tournaments, while also giving away some prize money and cool trophies. An anonymous donor directly contributed $300 to the food pantry on our behalf, and when we transmitted our donation to the food bank, we rounded it up to $1,500. That brings the total contribution to the food pantry to $1,800!
It was a LOT of work for us to move the games to Texas pinball festival, set them up, and then take them back home. We COULD NOT have done it without tremendous help from some of our great friends, and we would like to thank them for helping us make our tournaments at TPF Possible.
William, Jim, Clark, and Chris N - thank you so much for your help moving, setting up, the games (and Jim and Clark for bringing a game). Tricia - thank you for your support and your help taking the money and getting people signed up to play. Summer was a big help as score keeper too! Zachary (ProgrammersPrints on Etsy) supplied the amazing personalized trophies in case you are looking to offer some for one of your tournaments.
Thank you again to all who participated, filled our hearts with joy, and helped our local food pantry!
