BREAKING: Brandon Gill Calls for a Ban on Sharia Law in America
The debate over Sharia law is heating up in Washington as Rep. Brandon Gill pushes for a clear position: American courts should operate under the U.S. Constitution, not a separate religious or foreign legal system.
Gill has joined lawmakers behind the Sharia-Free America movement, arguing that constitutional rights and equal protection must remain the standard for everyone. Supporters see the issue as a defense of American law and individual freedoms, while critics warn that the debate can blur the line between opposing a legal system and targeting a religious community.
With the issue now gaining renewed attention, the bigger question is becoming impossible to ignore: Where should the line be drawn between religious freedom and the authority of American law?
My take: Protecting one constitutional legal standard is a legitimate political discussion, but the debate should remain focused on laws, courts and constitutional rights—not on judging people by their faith. That distinction matters.
