I’ve been pretty quiet on this page lately, but I definitely haven’t been quiet behind the booth.

The funny thing about DJing is that most people only see the finished product.

They see the packed dance floor. The lights. The big songs. Everybody screaming the lyrics.

What they don’t see is everything happening in my head while it’s going on.

Who’s dancing. Who just walked off. What age group is taking over the floor. Whether I need to let this song breathe or get out of it after the first chorus. What song I can play next that keeps the 25-year-olds AND the 55-year-olds from sitting down.

That’s the part I love.

Anybody can make a playlist.

I get addicted to trying to read hundreds of people in real time and figure out what they want to hear before they even know they want to hear it.

Sometimes you absolutely nail it.

Sometimes you play something you were convinced would work and watch the dance floor look at you like you’ve personally offended them. 😂

Then you get one song to fix it.

That’s DJing.

I’ve got a lot of footage and stories from behind the booth that I’ve never posted, so I’m going to start sharing more of it.

The good sets, the weird requests, the packed floors, the occasional misses, and everything that happens in between.
