Greetings from the Texarkana College Music Department! We are looking forward to a new academic year starting this fall, and we are ready to work with students willing to expand their musical knowledge. We offer an Associate of Arts – Music Concentration degree that allows students to graduate core complete and with music applied, ensemble, music theory, and ear-training & sight-singing college credits. Music classes can also be taken as electives for any degree program at TC offering electives.

We also offer auditioned chorale scholarships for deserving new students (see poster below). We want to take young vocal students to the next step in their singing journey and provide them with the support they need to be successful. Students can also audition for the TTCCDA all-state choir which meets yearly in San Antonio in February for TMEA, and they can participate in many of our extensive TC Music Series programs.

We would be happy to talk with any interested prospective music students about the opportunities at TC, and how they can take advantage of the best offerings right here in Texarkana. We are here throughout the summer and ready to answer any question. Be in touch!

TC Music Series 2026-2027!

TC Music Faculty Marc-Andre Bougie conducted the Carnegie Hall premiere of his Stabat Mater this past Monday, May 25. Seven TC students and TC pianist Mary Scott Smith performed as well.

This will be a big week for vocal music in our community! This morning, TC is hosting mezzo-soprano Audrey Johnson for a vocal masterclass with TC students in the Music Hall of the Stilwell Humanities at TC from 10am until 12 noon. All are invited to attend and learn about good, healthy singing.

On Tuesday, guest artist Audrey Johson will be presenting A More Perfect Union - A Music Journey to the US Constitution in collaboration with TRC. The program will last approximately 75 minutes, and it will be presented at 4:30pm and 7:30pm in the Cabe Hall of the Regional Arts Center. This afternoon at 5pm, TC music students will be presenting their last recital of the 2025-2026 academic year in the Music Hall of the Stilwell Humanities Building. A total of eleven vocal and piano participants will present over twenty individual musical selections - one of the largest recitals we have had in years! Donations received at the concert will help with tour expenses for seven of our students travelling to Carnegie Hall in New York City Memorial Day weekend to represent TC and the whole community. Please treat yourself to our last music recital of the semester. Our students have been working overtime putting together one of their best recitals yet. Proceeds from the concert will help with May 2026 Carnegie Hall tour expenses. Thank you!
