Texarkana Regional Arts & Humanities Council, Inc. Growing people and community through the Arts!

TRAHC is a people-building and community-building organization – a leadership organization of arts and ideas that works to create an energized, creative, connected community. Formed in 1978 by community leaders with generous assistance from the Junior League of Texarkana, TRAHC’s goals were to protect, develop, take advantage of, and provide all citizens with access to our own cultural resources.

As we have progressed, the “arts” have also proven to be a wise economic investment as well as a tourism stimulus. TRAHC is both a presenter and a preserver of historical legacies for the Perot Theatre and the Regional Arts Center. The guiding principals of TRAHC are:
- Artistic Excellence
- Education
- Collaboration
- Leadership
- Participation
- Accessibility
- Pride of Place
- Service to the Community
- Community Involvement
- Organizational Innovation

Join exhibiting artist Anna Zusman for a reception and artist talk celebrating the opening of "Us and Them," which will be displayed in the Regional Arts Center from Sept. 12 to Oct. 31. The reception will take place on September 12 from 3-5 PM and is free to the public!

"Us and Them" explores how we divide the world into “us” and “them,” and how our perceptions are shaped by what we choose to notice. The centerpiece is a cross-section of a house depicted twice. In one version, rooms containing “good” scenes, such as an elderly couple dancing and a family gathered around the dinner table, are illuminated. In the other, only “bad” scenes, such as people fighting, are lit. The work encourages viewers to become more aware of the ways we divide the world, to notice the positive aspects in others’ “houses,” and to acknowledge the challenges within our own.

Get swept away by the virtuosity of Baroque elegance and the timeless joy of American Jazz! 🎶

Delivered in the Muses’ signature style of excellence and artistry, "Broken Standards" offers a unique and captivating blend of early Western European music paired with early 20th-century American Jazz Standards.

Presented by The Muses Classical Troupe, the concert features a 30-person cast including a mixed choral ensemble led by eight internationally touring professional soloists, resident vocalists, and dancers. Audiences will experience evocative arrangements of Early Opera, Art Song, Oratorio, and Sacred selections by Handel, Purcell, and Bach alongside timeless American Big Band and Jazz classics by Cole Porter, George Gershwin, and Kurt Weill.

Music from these distinct eras represents both the origin of Opera and the cradle of Jazz—reflecting a shared belief in vocal music as a potent tool to evoke deep emotion, transporting both performer and audience to a higher level of transcendence and artistic absorption.
