SCHEID DIESEL EXTRAVAGANZA — FRIDAY & SATURDAY! 🔥

This weekend, the Scheid Diesel Extravaganza takes over the Vigo County Fairgrounds and Wabash Valley Dragway — and I want to take a minute to explain why this event is so important, not only to the diesel community, but to our racetrack and our community as a whole.

This is one of the biggest diesel and truck events in the Midwest, if not the country, and people travel from all over the United States to experience it.

And there is A LOT happening this weekend!

…and thousands of diesel, truck and motorsports fans coming together for one massive weekend!

Even if you’re not a diesel person, there is something here worth seeing.

I know this type of event isn’t everybody’s cup of tea. I know some of our regular drag racers aren’t diesel-truck people. And I know the behavior that sometimes happens outside the event after hours has caused frustration in the community in years past.

But I also think it’s important to separate that from what actually happens inside the gates.

I’ve watched Mr. Dan Scheid and the Scheid Diesel crew working on this property all week preparing for this weekend. A tremendous amount of planning, work and resources have gone into trying to cover every base and put on a safe, organized and successful event.

And from the Wabash Valley Dragway side, there is something else I want our racing community to understand:

Events like this help our racetrack succeed.

They bring thousands of people into Terre Haute. Those visitors stay in hotels, eat at restaurants, buy fuel, shop locally and spend money throughout our community.

They also bring people to Wabash Valley Dragway who may have never stepped foot on this property before.

And the success of events like this gives us opportunities to continue investing back into this facility and making Wabash Valley Dragway better for our racers.

We’re already seeing one of those benefits this week.

Scheid Diesel has brought in TVC — Total Venue Concepts to work on and prepare our racing surface. Many racers already know the reputation and experience behind TVC.

For me personally, that’s HUGE.

I’m getting the opportunity to watch these guys work, learn from their experience, ask questions and see firsthand how they approach a racing surface.

That knowledge doesn’t disappear when Scheid Diesel leaves town Sunday.

We get to take what we learn and use it to continue becoming better track operators and provide our racers with a better racing surface.

That’s a win for Wabash Valley Dragway and a win for our racing community.

I’ve always believed that when this racetrack succeeds, we should continue putting that success back into the facility, our programs, our racers and the future of drag racing.

Events like Scheid Diesel help make that possible.

So I’m asking our regular racing family to come support this weekend.

You don’t have to be a diesel fan.

Maybe you just want to watch drag racing — come watch drag racing!

Maybe you’ve never seen a tractor pull — come check it out.

Maybe you want to see some of the wild trucks you’ve watched on YouTube and social media in person, along with some of the YouTubers, influencers and personalities behind them.

Maybe you want to see what these trucks can put down on the dyno.

Maybe you want to watch the burnout pit.

Or maybe you just want to grab something to eat at GearHeadz Grill, walk around and experience one of the largest events that comes through this property every year.
