For babies with mild reflux, one of the simplest and most effective first-line steps is upright positioning after a feed. Gravity helps keep milk in the stomach and out of the esophagus, reducing discomfort and spit-up.

While general guidance can range anywhere from 20 minutes to a full hour, I’ve found 30–45 minutes often offers the best balance. This allows gastric emptying to begin, which reduces regurgitation risk — but the exact timing should be customized to the baby you’re caring for.

Remember: every baby is different. Watch closely for signs of slower motility (gastric emptying) — these babies may need a longer upright period to get relief. Your keen observation skills are just as important as the position itself.

She was diligent about ensuring homework was completed thoroughly and on time, helped the children stay organized, and reinforced responsibility by making sure chores were completed consistently. Her calm but firm approach helped our children develop independence and accountability.

Beyond her practical skills, Candice formed genuine, caring relationships with each of our children. She treated them with kindness and respect, communicated openly with us as parents, and was attentive to their emotional well-being. We trusted her completely and always felt confident that our children were safe, supported, and well cared for in her presence.
