In 2005 Richard Sullivan began developing the idea for Judy the Musical. The next year composer Michael Markowski started his journey with the production and over the next few years developed the beautiful scoring for the show. November 2008 marked Judy the Musical’s first performance, showcasing the highlights of the musical. In November 2009, a workshop production of Judy the Musical ran at the Mesa Arts Center and starred Valley favorite, Valerie Saunders as Judy Garland. In April 2011, Judy the Musical ran at the Tempe Center for the Arts and starred the mulit-talented Paige O'Hara as Judy. Paige O'Hara is widely known as Disney's animated heroine, Belle, in the critically acclaimed, Oscar-winning, animated film Beauty and the Beast.
