A plaintive clarinet welcomes the sun to Janiculum hill (Karen Wevursky), and a nightingale begins to sing (Dan Lane on an Acme Nightingale Call (really, look it up!)). With the morning, the returning army appears in the far distance coming up the Appian Way. And thus begins an epic ride to take us to the conclusion of Pines of Rome. Two minutes into the climactic crescendo my hair stands on end when the harmony resolves to a major tonality -- and the crescendo is only about halfway done!

Our season finale is going to be an amazing concert -- reserve your free tickets now!

Rehearsals proceed apace for our Feb 22 American Composers concert. You'll recognize this snippet from the opening movement 4 of Copland's Third Symphony. This piece is a wild ride. You may hear elements of Appalachian Spring, or Billy the Kid, or many other familiar Copland moments. It may wear you out. We can promise to expend our all to play it for you!

Hello from Lakeside at Tempe Center for the Arts. We are back at it, and have a fantastic season of music for you now.

Our first concert is Oct 13 at 7:30 at TCA as part of Hispanic/Latinx Heritage. We will be frolicking our way through José Pablo Moncayo's Huapango and accompanying José Salazar in Manuel Ponce's Concerto para piano #1, "Romantico".

We will follow up with a concert on October 25th where we will again play these two pieces, along with Tchaikowsky's Swan Lake Suite Op. 20.

Both concerts are at 7:30 at Tempe Center for the Arts -- follow us now and see when we post links to online tickets (free, as always).
