🌅 **RISE WITH RONZEE | PHOENIX HISTORY YOU SHOULD KNOW**
Today, I’m shining a light on a piece of Phoenix history that deserves to be remembered. ❤️
📍 **Swindell House — Downtown Phoenix**
There was a time when Black Americans traveling through Arizona could not simply walk into any hotel or motel and expect to be welcomed, safe, or comfortable.
So a family in Phoenix created something powerful: **a place where Black travelers could rest, find shelter, and feel at home.**
Think about that for a moment.
You’re traveling for business. You’re passing through town. Maybe you’re visiting family. And because of segregation, something as basic as finding a safe place to sleep wasn't guaranteed.
**But there was a place for us.**
Today, this historic space continues its story through **Afrisoul Education Center** — a place where people can come together to learn, share, create, experience culture, host meetings, hold events, and build community.
And THAT is what I love about Phoenix.
There are stories hiding in plain sight all around us. 🏜️
Sometimes you have to slow down, look around, and ask:
**“What happened here before I got here?”**
