“My work is based in the natural world because that’s where I spend a lot of my time, combined with all of the emotions I feel living in this complicated (material) world. But the imagery I’m making is not specifically, literally, of either nature or my internal world," artist Judith Kohin says of her work. "I work very spontaneously and intuitively. I don’t have a preconceived notion when I step into my studio. It’s an exploration, a journey where I don’t know where I’m going to go.”
Kohin’s process, called “breakdown screen printing,” involves drawing, painting, printing and encaustic wax application.
