Hello my friends and family. I’ve been offline for quite some time. During which I’ve returned to school for a masters in social work. What a wonderful path to have landed in. I plan to open a private practice someday. In the meantime, I’m putting myself through school with a few online offerings. After my cat died I couldn’t seem to draw animals anymore. It had been two years since I made a portrait for an animal who had passed away.

But, I seem to have come through it at last. I painted this for my cousin, Jeff, after his lovely Maddie passed into the next realm. She is a beautiful spirit. Once finished, I felt her guidance and kindness from the wall before I gave her to him. That is what I strive for, to feel their spirit housed in the portrait so we might communicate and receive strength from them after they’re not physically present anymore. I loved getting to know her this way.

I’m open to receive commissions again.

Someone asked me why I adore Cy Twombly. Why I strive to paint in his lineage. I think he is the greatest painter of all time. Truly beautiful abstraction, to me, must show that the painter has an understanding of the way light works. Light and the many ways it creates the world. This is the study of an artist in school. Then after that kind of pictorial work has been mastered… abstraction , at least the lineage of abstraction cy Twombly created, is about revealing light bereft of form. It is a principal, light. And it can exist with or without the forms it reveals. Abstract paintings in this lineage (Monet and Twombly) are more realistic by which I mean more true to life because they are revealing that which is and that which will continue to be after all forms fade to dust
