Tuesday jams and toast. Roscoe Holcomb was one of the most well known voices in Appalachian music. He was mostly a coal miner, a farmer and construction worker. Discovered by John Cohen, who coined the term "the high lonesome sound" to describe his sound, years before the term filtered into bluegrass legend. I believe he only cut 3 or 4 albums and after years of mining and hard labor let him with asthma and ephysema he retired to a nursing home and passed away in 1981.
