Sins of The Father

Blow, blow, blow my body away
Blow my body away

I walk in the shoes
Of a man that I never met
But his soul was burned
Into me so I never forget
That the sins of the son
Are the sins of a father’s regret
Try to break the mold
But the die’s already been set

They can burn my bones
Let the wind take my ashes away
Blow, blow, blow my body away
Blow my body away

I walk in the shadow
Of the man that came before
Drown my sorrow
In the wh***ey that I pour
A little bit of light
But the darkness came before
the sins of the son
Are the sins of the father no more

They can burn my bones
Let the wind take my ashes away
Blow, blow, blow my body away
Blow my body away

I stand in the shoes
Of a man who lost his soul
to the sins of a father
who traded his love for gold
and they can burn my body
til my bones turn black and cold
bleached in the sun
and drenched in the days of old

They can burn my bones
Let the wind take my ashes away
Blow, blow, blow my body away
Blow my body away

Thursday jams and toast. 10 years ago today. That was the day everything stopped in Canada, and everyone in the country tuned in for the final ride. The Tragically Hip performed their last show with frontman Gord Downie on this date in 2016. Perhaps one of the greatest frontmen ever, Gord was a force to be reckoned with. One of the most prolific songwriters of our time, he told the story of Canada and the people of Canada. Considered a national treasure, it was surely a national tragedy when he was diagnosed with brain cancer. Gord died on October 17, 2017. I still love to sit down with some Youtube and watch old Tragically Hip videos. I still wonder at the master craftsmanship of everything he touched. Enjoy this video from that last show in Kingston.

Monday jams and toast. If you haven't heard of Angine de Poitrine, now's your chance. I swear the first time I heard these guys I thought it was some kind of Les Claypool creation. Turns out they're just Canadian. These guys describe themselves as a "Mantra Rock, Dada Pythago-cubist orchestra composed of space time voyagers" I just call them cool as s**t. You might want to drop a little something psychedelic for this trip, but Ima smoke up, so dial in, fire it up and enjoy this crazy show from the The Ogden Theatre last week.

Second show in the US at The Ogden Theatre

Something In The Water
You can lead a horse to water
But you can’t make him drink
You can lead a man to the promised land
But you can’t make him think
You can lead a politician to
The truth and he won’t blink
when he puts his arm around you
with a smile and a wink

better keep your hand on your wallet son
and you might want to keep one on a gun

Cause there’s something in the water
There’s something in the air
There’s something in the lies they tell
You know they just don’t care
They’ll take it all and still want more
They’ll lay this country bare
And you can bet you’ll never lay
Your hands on your fair share

You can take this life for granted
You can take it for a ride
But when the man comes for you
ain’t no place that you can hide
the politician tells the truth
that he wants you to hear
but he picks your pocket all the same
while he whispers in your ear

better keep your hand on your wallet son
and you might want to keep one on a gun

Cause there’s something in the water
There’s something in the air
There’s something in the lies they tell
You know they just don’t care
They’ll take it all and still want more
They’ll lay this country bare
And you can bet you’ll never lay
Your hands on your fair share

Yeah, whatever’s in this water’s
Been stinking up this air
But the EPA says it’s ok
You know they just don’t care
