The moment I feared may never come has finally arrived! Within the past hour we went from absolutely nothing, to having our 2026 location.
And in fact, we will only be a few buildings down from last year!!

We’re overjoyed, but equally overwhelmed.
Our lease this year is literally double what we paid last year, and we have a fraction of the time to prepare. Not only that, but 100% of the lease is required up front. And we move in on Saturday!!! So now we’re scrambling to find the funds not only for insurance, Uhauls, permits, lumber, etc., but also this HUGE lump sum.

If you’ve enjoyed Tehachapi Terror over any of our previous 5 seasons, would you consider making a donation to our GoFundMe?

Every tiny bit helps, as we have a seemingly endless list of expenses, both big and small. Thank you for helping us keep the screams coming, and we CAN’T WAIT to see you this fall. 🤡

For the past five years, Tehachapi Terror Haunted House has been a labor of love for our volunteers and a Halloween tradition for thousands of local families.

Unfortunately, we’re still searching for a location for our 2026 season, and there exists a very real possibility that we may not be able to open this year.

We’re putting together a collection of community testimonials to help demonstrate what this event means to Tehachapi and the surrounding communities.

If Tehachapi Terror has been a part of your Halloween traditions, we’d love to hear from you. Please leave a comment sharing:

🎃 How long you’ve attended
🎃 Your favorite memory
🎃 What the haunt means to you or your family
🎃 Where you travel from to visit
🎃 Any photos you may have taken with us!

Your comments may be included in a community support packet that we share with potential property owners and partners as we continue our search for a home.

Thank you for supporting us over the last five years. We truly have the best community, and we’re not giving up yet. ❤️

It’s with deeply heavy hearts that we must announce that unless we can secure a location by this weekend, Tehachapi Terror will not be returning for a 6th season.

Please understand that we have genuinely exhausted every possible option we can think of. Kmart never replied, Woodward turned us down, and even the property up the road from last year said no, citing concerns about liability (even though we offered asking price, liability insurance, and a hold harmless contract).
Every other location we’ve looked into lacks the sprinkler and alarm system we require to pass fire inspection. This rules out barns, smaller retail spaces, etc.
Running our event outdoors is simply not an option for quite a number of reasons, and even if we got a tent to help with a couple of those problems, that then raises the issue of fire inspection again.

We’re also not interested in holding the event outside of Tehachapi, as this town is genuinely the very heart of it all for us.

Our hearts are slowly breaking, but we’re not giving up yet. We remain hopeful that, much like 2023, someone will turn up in the final hour with a solution.
Sharing our post helps the most, as what we ultimately need is for it just to be seen by the right person.

If nothing else, throughout this search we’ve felt so much love and support by our city and community. We didn’t realize just how many people we had rooting and fighting for us until now, and that offers so much comfort during this ordeal.

This isn’t the post I wanted to make today, but we’re in a really bad position right now.
For the last two months, we’ve been trying and trying to get our foot in the door with the new Woodward West owner, and unfortunately it took those two months just for them to tell us “no”. Which has honestly put us in an extremely difficult position, where we’re having to figure out an alternative when we are completely down to the wire.

It’s not that we need ideas, we’ve exhausted all of those, at this point we need actual connections.
We cannot do our event outdoors, and we cannot do it in a non-commercial building.
We desperately need 5000sqft(or more) of open indoor space, but we’ve seemingly run out of options. We’re faced with the very real possibility of Tehachapi Terror not happening this year.
I can’t even begin to express the heartbreak that comes with typing that statement.

We tried and tried with Kmart, but they stopped replying to our emails months ago.
We tried the big office/warehouse building that’s for lease up the road from last year’s location (across from Home Depot), and unfortunately he’s not willing to work with our budget. Every other space that we’ve found available for lease or sale online is simply way too small for us at this point.
Unless someone has a business with a warehouse they’re not using, it seems like we’re hitting a dead end.

These types of updates are always so painful to make, but we’re up against the wall, and likely won’t make anything happen at this point without someone’s help.

Might have an exciting announcement for you all real soon!!

Might have an exciting announcement for you all real soon!!

I’ll be so honest, I really hate making these posts. It always feels like admitting defeat. And yet, when we’re this close to needing to begin setup, my hand is forced. We are still desperately searching for our 2026 location.

We have already tried Kmart and Rite Aid, as well as several others. Most places just don’t give us the time of day, and we can’t get any kind of answer one way or the other (with Kmart being the biggest offender).
Which unfortunately leaves us spinning our tires, unable to fundraise, build, plan.

We need a minimum of 5500sqft of indoor, open floor plan commercial space, ideally with sprinklers, since we need to pass fire inspection.
As a small, seasonal nonprofit, we’re hoping to find someone willing to work with either a discounted rate, or taking a percentage of gross ticket sales.

We would need to occupy the space from the first or second week of August, through mid/late November.

Despite us getting so down to the wire, and admittedly feeling discouraged, we’re far from giving up.
If you want to help us, even simply liking, commenting, and sharing this post can help it get seen by the right people. Because we do believe that SOMEONE out there will be able to help us!!

Today’s the day!!! Eat at our local Panda Express and mention your order is for the Tehachapi Terror fundraiser, and we get 20%!

We have some overhead expenses coming up next month, plus we’ve started building some of the new props we need for this season, so every little bit from this fundraiser counts.
Please comment, like, and share to help boost the algorithm! 🖤

HELP SUPPORT TEHACHAPI TERROR 2026!!!
Believe it or not, we HAVE been staying busy behind the scenes, and are working hard pursuing a specific location for this year.
You can help support our efforts AND treat yourself to some Panda Express this Sunday, June 28th!

It’s as simple as going to our local Tehachapi Panda Express on Sunday, any time during operating hours, and letting them know you’re ordering for the Tehachapi Terror fundraiser (or show them this flyer).
We get a percentage of each sale made this way!! And that adds up fast.

Please help us spread the word! Share this post/flyer, tell a friend, maybe even order in for your workplace.

October will be here before we know it, and there is sooo much work for us to do!

Hey everyone! Time for an update/conclusion to our car debacle.
Stallion Springs PD worked so fast and wrapped things up lickety split for us.
The individual who struck our vehicle was very genuinely unaware, because they were driving a very very big, sturdy diesel truck. The truck itself even had almost no evidence or paint transfer on it.
We met with the police today, who then brought this individual in for us meet, and we can genuinely say that there is zero bad blood between us. They were very surprised to find out they’d hit us, apologized, and provided insurance info.

At the end of the day, accidents happen, people make mistakes, and ultimately we feel this was the best possible resolution that could have occurred here.

Thank you all so much for the love and support, what an amazing community!
