🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ Happy from yours truly, Ryan Vincent! 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈

Today, June 1st, begins a month-long celebration of LGBTQIA+ culture and history. For decades, q***r people have blazed their own trails and left their mark on music history. Many of whom created the Solid Gold classic hits you hear today.

To kick off the month, I want to share one of my favorite anthems from the Disco era. This song is called "I Was Born This Way" and it was brought to us by Carl Bean - an openly gay man who was a strong activist in AIDS awareness and support, especially for young black men. He released this song in 1977 through Motown Records where he loudly and proudly declares his homosexuality. As a proud gay man myself, I always smile whenever this comes on my playlist knowing that, every day, "I'm Happy, I'm Carefree, and I'm Gay" because "I Was Born This Way."

Rest In Peace to Foster Sylvers of The Sylvers 💔

When you look at all the family groups of the 1970s, The Sylvers we’re able to stand on their own as an incredible group, especially when you have the likes of the Jackson 5 and The Osmonds. I think the one song that lives rent free in my head is “Hot Line.” It is just a super fun song.

Foster’s performance in his song “Misdemeanor” is a perfect encapsulation of that fun and soul that many child singers should be able to experience. Similar to Michael Jackson, I’m sure Foster loved to boogie and dance around on that stage with all the joy and excitement.

Foster Sylvers, the R&B child star who shot to fame with the group the Sylvers — best known for mega hit “Boogie Fever” — has died, his family said.

I’m really glad that Frankie is taking the time to focus on his health rather than continuing to tour. For all the things that have been said, and I know that I have said plenty of times that Frankie Valli should retire, I think now if an artist wants to continue to perform they should be able to do so.

I say this because, of course, I am a huge fan of Paul McCartney. Everybody knows that his voice has changed in the last few years (to say the least) but we still go and see Paul McCartney because he is Paul McCartney! Same way how there are plenty of people who want to see Frankie Valli because he’s Frankie Valli.

Frankie Valli, who turned 92 in May, canceled all remaining tour dates with The Four Seasons for 2026.

I mean, when I first saw it, I did think that was actually the Beatles voicing their own characters. They are right about the exaggeration in their accents. For the longest time, people have referenced this movie as a way to do a Liverpool accent. After I became a bigger fan of the group, I would just reference them directly 😂

Born in 1950, I’d like to wish a very Happy Birthday to the legendary Stevie Wonder!

Stevie was very popular amongst my family growing up. Although for the most part, it was hearing songs like “Superstition” and “Sir Duke.” Then, one of my cousins who loves Stevie Wonder, put me on to an incredible soundtrack that included “All I Do,” “I Wish,” “Higher Ground,” “As,” and so much more. Of course, I also knew him from his collaborations with Paul McCartney on the songs “Ebony & Ivory” and “What’s The You’re Doing” from Paul’s Tug Of War album. He is nothing short of a genius and an absolute Maestro.

To celebrate today, here’s something cool I found on my retro journey. This is a segment from Tom Jones’s TV Show from 1969 where he and Stevie did a medley of each other‘s hits. Check it out below!

Happy Birthday, Stevie! ♥️
