Nick Jones passed on to a new journey this July. We will all follow later.
But seeing the tribute his family put together in photos keeps him fresh in our hearts.
Konstantin begins the live service at about 18' with Amazing Grace and ends it at about 1.00 with Ashokan Farewell.
We will miss the physical presence of this great soul, but believe that his spirit and memory will continue to give us joy as we recall that
even the great ones run their boat up a tree from time to time.
Love to you all,
Audrey

Dear Symphony Family,

Our beloved Nick Jones passed away peacefully at 5 am this morning, surrounded by his wife and daughters and their family.

Betty Sue says that she thinks the funeral will be around Saturday July 15 at the Methodist Church, but she will let me know (and I will pass it on to you) a little later.

Nick was a bedrock of our community and especially of the symphony.....and really he was an avid supporter of everyone he ever met. What a great personality and warm heart, ready to extend a hand to befriend those he met along his journey in life. A great soul.
We mourn his leaving us behind, though it is our hope that we will all meet again in a loving universe.

May he rest in peace in the loving arms of our Saviour.

Until later....Audrey

New Year Concerts!
By Florida Lakes Symphony Orchestra

The Florida Lakes Symphony Orchestra will soon present their annual New Year Concerts featuring “Dazzling Dances” with special guest conductor Paul Hostetter.

January Concert Performances: These two new concerts will begin with the flashing “Ruslan & Ludmila” by Glinka and continues with the beloved “Blue Danube”. Virtuoso Violinist, FLSO Concert Master, Konstantin Dimitrov will lead with Tschaikowsky’s “Danse Russe” from the Swan Lake Ballet. The “Emperor Waltz” lends elegance to the evening and the first part of the program concludes with the rousing “Russian Sailor’s Dance”.

There will be a world of musical potpourri in the second half with works from Bizet, Leroy Anderson and Brahms with Hungarian Dance No. 5. From Italy, Marco Romano will sing the beautiful “Hallelujah” made famous by Andrea Bocelli. Konstantin Dimitrov will return with the stirring tango “Por una Cabeza” as featured in the film “Scent of a Woman”. This piece will segment into the violin vocal duet of “Mi Mancherai” from the movie “The Postman”. Next, they will change tempo and go to celebrate the American West while ending the concert with the famous and fast-paced “Eljen a Magyar.” This concert will give voice to several continents and musical styles stitched seamlessly together by the beautiful themes of the music.

Celebrate Bulgarian violinist Konstantin Dimitrov will be performing. He has anchored the Florida Lakes Symphony Orchestra since 2006 as Concert Master and soloist. With the immense guiding light and musical sense of the Founder, Guy Saint-Clair with supportive artistic and administrative skills of the co-founder, Audrey Sanders as Executive Director, this orchestra was established as a formidable force on the cultural scene of Central Florida.

Concert Locations: On Thursday, January 5, the Viennese style New Year Concert will be held at ‘The Cross,’ formerly “Lake Receptions” 18800 US Highway 441 in Mount Dora, FL 32757. The Friday, January 6 performance will be held at the Minneola City Hall located at: 800 US-27, Minneola, FL 34715. Attendees are urged to arrive early for their choice of upfront seating.

He is a much sought-after guest conductor and was an assistant to James Levine at the Metropolitan Opera. He has conducted many symphonies, opera companies and ballet performances. His soft-spoken genius makes him a treasured favorite with the Florida Lakes Symphony Orchestra.

18th Season: On February 2 & 3, the Florida Lakes Symphony will perform a special Valentine’s Concert with romantic themes and surprise guests. On March 9 & 10, Carl Topilow will be back to share an inspiring Irish program. The season will conclude on April 20 & 21 with a Spring Pops program.

Florida Lakes Symphony Orchestra – April Concerts
Celebrating Spring With New April 2022 “Les Solistes” Performances!

The Florida Lakes Symphony Orchestra will present “Les Solistes” once again in their Spring concerts “off-season” finale. This smaller group of talented musicians will perform a special repertoire of virtuoso classical and popular music on April 7 and 8, 2022.

Joyful Spring! The April concerts will begin with the ever-bouncy Bach “Brandenburg Concerto No. 5”, specifically composed for just such a group. Then, as this is the anniversary of the passing of the orchestra’s beloved Founder, pianist and composer Guy Saint-Clair, there will follow some original works and some favorite pieces, like “Aquarium” by Saint-Saens from “Carnival of the Animals, “Ballade in Blue” -- an original Saint-Clair work, “Chopin” by Schumann from “Carnival” and “Marco Polo” by Ennio Morricone, all arranged by Guy in his signature style. The piano will be king for these pieces and will be played by Master Pianist, Sergei Kossenko. The fabulous “Kaddish” by Maurice Ravel is an appropriate work for the evening and will be presented by violin virtuoso, Konstantin Dimitrov. “Voices of Spring” by Johann Strauss Jr. will brighten our spirits as the concert concludes with three fiery Slavic Dances: by Dvorak, Saint-Clair, and Brahms. This may be your last chance to hear this fabulous selection of virtuoso artists coming together in this unique way. Enjoy these spring concerts to support the orchestra as it looks forward to a brand-new Fall season.

Florida Lakes Symphony Orchestra – February Concerts
Celebrating “Romance & Roses” With New February 2022 Performances!

The Florida Lakes Symphony Orchestra will present their Saint Valentine’s tribute concerts entitled “Romance & Roses” with an appearance of “Soloists of the Orchestra”. This will be a smaller group of talented musicians who will passionately play a special romantic repertoire of virtuoso classical and popular music of love on February 17 and 18, 2022

Each evening performance will begin with the rousing “Marriage of Figaro” by Amadeus Mozart. This will be an introduction to the stirringly beautiful “Seasons of the Soul” composed by member of the group, concert pianist Sergei Kossenko while at the Moscow Conservatory of Music. This will be followed by the famous tango from “Scent of A Woman” by Carlos Gardel, who is also known as “Por una Cabeza” because his love of a woman won out “by a head” over his other love-horse racing. Everyone will be captivated by the brilliant Tschaikowsky masterpiece, “Romeo & Juliet” music used in so very many film scores to great effect. The theme from the film, “Elvira Madigan” is taken from Amadeus Mozart. This will bring the evening to Vienna, home of the elegance of romance and to the performance of “Old Vienna Dances” by that incredible universally acknowledged violin virtuoso Fritz Kreisler. This performance will be represented brilliantly by the FLSO’s beloved Concert Master, Konstantin Dimitrov. Made famous in the movie, “Ghost”, the next popular piece will be “Unchained Melody”.
