It's corn! Last fall we built this adobe oven with the afterschool program at the Embudo Valley Library and celebrated with a sweet corn roast.

Excited to continue the traditions this summer in Dixon, New Mexico — with workshops led by our artist-in-residence, Henrietta Gomez of Taos Pueblo.

Thank you to Schacht for gifting our weaving program at Taos Historic Museums with inkle looms and card weaving cards!

These will support our traditional belt weaving workshops, where our artists-in-residence teach, share, and learn skills to keep traditions alive.

Special thanks to artist Marlee Espinosa of Taos Pueblo — Director of our Belt Weaving & Pueblo Weaving Programs — for her leadership. 💪

We’re excited to announce the 2026 recipients of the Schacht Tools for Schools Grant! 🎉

Through this grant program, schools and nonprofit organizations receive Schacht equipment to help start or expand their spinning and weaving programs. This year, we received more applications than ever before—a wonderful sign of the growing interest in spinning and weaving education.

Congratulations to this year’s recipients!

All warped up & ready to weave. Kicking off our Sabanilla Weaving Apprenticeship — led by teacher Benita Ortega-Rael.

Colcha bordadoras gathered together to warp up their rigid heddle looms, for weaving the sabanilla textile used in traditional colcha embroidery.

A balanced weave made of churro warp & churro weft yarns.

✨Special thanks to our Rio Grande Weaving Cohort member, the late great Yolanda Rommel (1936–2025), for donating the 10" and 15" looms to our program.

✨And to our friend Connie Taylor for donating the 12 dent reeds.

Legacy lives on.
