Earth to Table: "Unearthing Futures" Feast, Friday, June 26 | 5:30 pm

Harwood Museum of Art will host a SOLD OUT fundraising dinner at the intersection of art, land, and shared ritual. "Earth to Table" brings together the artists, curators, and supporters of "Unearthing Futures / Desenterrando Futuros" for an intimate, one-night-only feast held at the historic Hacienda de los Martinez, curated by / shed and led by artist-chef Johnny Ortiz-Concha.

Meet artist Ronald Rael and experience "LIMINAL" as it comes to life in real time on the front plaza of Harwood Museum of Art.

Blending tradition and technology, Rael constructs "LIMINAL" layer by layer using 3D printed adobe and a portable 7-axis robot. This live build takes place while the museum is closed for installation of 'Unearthing Futures / Desenterrando Futuros,' offering a window into process, material, and making at scale.

“Unearthing Futures / Desenterrando Futuros” Artist Spotlight: Santino Gonzales

Santino Gonzales (Los Lunas, New Mexico) works with adobe as a technology of memory and transmission. Drawing on personal experience—radio signals drifting through his Nana’s adobe walls—his practice explores how sound, story, and presence move through earth. In "Unearthing Futures," he creates a field of transmissions, embedding radios within earthen forms that carry voices, wind, and everyday sounds of life rooted in land. His work reframes adobe not as static structure but as a medium that receives, reflects, and carries. Referencing both scientific listening stations and the ufological histories of New Mexico, Gonzales turns attention inward, tuning into local and intimate frequencies. Through this, adobe becomes a site of resonance, where memory lingers and connection is continuously transmitted.

Gonzales is an artist working in video and installation, exploring connections between technology, land, and the unknown. He received his BFA from the University of New Mexico and his MFA from California College of the Arts. His work has been exhibited internationally, and he is a Dedalus Fellow. He also composes and performs ambient music, working between the Bay Area and New Mexico.

Harwood Museum is teaming up with the Taos Public Library to offer a FREE monthly story time for young artists; inviting children and families into a creative space where storytelling and imagination come together.

This program is suitable for all ages. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Please note: The June Storytime will take place at the Stephanie Mitchell Smith Center for Creative Learning while the museum remains closed for installation.

Join Artist Ronald Rael for a two-day adobe restoration workshop at the historic village of Los Ancones in Northern New Mexico. The workshop will focus on enjarrando (mud plastering), preparing and applying earthen plaster, and making adobes. This is a free workshop with limited space. Those who identify with adobe as a heritage practice are encouraged to apply. Applications are due July 6 at midnight. Workshop will take place August 15 + 16 near Ojo Caliente. Travel and accommodations are not provided. Support for this program is provided in part by the VIA Art Fund.

“Unearthing Futures / Desenterrando Futuros” Artist Spotlight: Joanna Keane Lopez

Joanna Keane Lopez (b. 1991, Albuquerque, New Mexico) is a multidisciplinary artist working at the intersection of sculpture, photography, site specific installation, and vernacular craft traditions of the American Southwest. Her practice engages earthen architecture, craft methodologies, and archival research to examine relationships between land, architecture, and material histories through adobe, wood, paper, and textiles. Inheriting adobe building knowledge from her family and community in New Mexico, Keane Lopez continues the craft legacy of enjarradoras and adoberas—women who specialize in traditional earthen building practices. Through sculpture, installation, and educational workshops, she reimagines vernacular building traditions and craft histories to investigate memory, fragmentation, military histories and infrastructures, environmental contamination, and the layered relationships between land and material culture.

Keane Lopez has exhibited nationally at institutions including SITE Santa Fe, The Momentary at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, San José Museum of Art, Craft Contemporary, National Hispanic Cultural Center Art Museum, Akron Art Museum, and Sarasota Art Museum. She has received support from New Mexico Documentary Incubator Grant, Jack K. and Gertrude Murphy Award, the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
