Looking for a creative experience in the American Tropics this winter? Check out Jack Smith's workshop at The Studios of Key West. This workshop is for writers, photographers, videographers, painters and artists of all disciplines interested in how we honor "others" in the creative process. We will dive into what is behind the portrait and the relationship between the artist and subject while enjoying the winter relief of this tropical island. So it begins. Jack has been incubating a series, TAKING REFUGE / SANCTUARY EYES (Retratos de los Ojos) for an upcoming exhibition. It documents stories and " eye portraits" of human beings taking refuge and the current crisis caused by cruel geo-political policies both from their native lands and the ones that they escaped to. More as the series emerges, stay tuned.
