RISE Theatrical Poetry

RISE Theatrical Poetry Experience poetry like never before with the RISE ensemble. Our political climate has changed dramatically; war is now being waged through money and capitalism.

Our unique collective pushes the boundaries of theatrical performance, transforming powerful words into a captivating stage production. Welcome to the Carnegie Hall Players initiative where our artists are currently developing the Railroad Renaissance 2020; the modern version of the Harlem Renaissance. It is coming upon the centennial of that time and legacy, and by carrying on the tradition of th

e Underground Railroad, we plan to build enclaves and enrichment facilities for disadvantaged youth and minorities who feel their story isn’t told in cinema or on the stage; changing the artistic landscape for freed thinkers and artists. Knowledge, information and media is not being retained as fast as it is being produced, and being descendants of the Transatlantic History, the creators of this enclave seek to power the community in a "Reach One, Teach One" fashion. Cultivating knowledgeable citizens with informative and cognitive assets at the ready (such as a movie reel/trailer of all personal material created by them, a general profile of said artist) it would spark a revolution in our media, technologies and patterns of thinking, just as was affected by the Harlem Renaissance.

What would happen when the city’s best poets put together a show of their pieces?

Live at Grand Central brings some of the best parts of the open mic scene and builds a production like you’ve never seen before. Poets get 10 minutes to put on their own production. The show is then hosted and weaved together by actors performing scenes, monologues and improv games.

With all new poetry, fun improv games, scenes and featured performances from some of Tampa’s greatest talent such as , .blk, and more! This is where poetry meets theatre in a high-energy performance! Hosted at

It’s crazy that a little over 24 hours ago we were at Stageworks Theatre celebrating black history, culture, and freedom and truly being our ancestors wildest dreams. If you missed out, here’s a little recap of the event yesterday. Don’t worry, we will be sharing even more photos and videos from the event, but we couldn’t wait to put a little something together that encapsulates the amazing energy and vibes that happened on Juneteenth. ✨

Special shoutout and thanks to who this would not be possible without. The entire team at Stageworks made sure we were set providing extra care from stage managing to on site personnel and last minute lobby crawls. We are incredibly grateful to call their space home. They graciously let us use the theatre space which is currently home to their amazing production of Lady Day! There are still tickets and performances available, and tell them we sent you! 😌

We would like to thank all of our vendors who attended the vendors market, please follow them, check them out, and support their businesses!

Last but not least, we want to thank and for taking charge of leading and organizing this event. They worked tirelessly to make sure the vendors and artists were all set from beginning to end! 💫

Great job everyone and we can’t wait to see you for our next event! Stay tuned for more content from The Pop Up event, and keep an eye out for announcements about our upcoming works! 🎉

Happy Juneteenth from all of us to you 🎉

Today we celebrate freedom and honor those who came before that endured many hardships at the hands of others. Those who had their freedom denied and delayed, but were eventually told the good news. Today is reverent and joyous, and we honor all the feelings that come with what it means to be black in America.
