It challenges them to move differently, explore musicality, use the floor, shift their weight and develop their own artistry. It’s not about replacing their classical training. It’s about becoming a more versatile, well-rounded dancer.

Meet the newest additions to our faculty. 🔥

We’re excited to welcome Cecilia Jensen and AJ Martin to Tampa City Ballet School for the 2026–2027 season.

Cecilia comes from a strong classical background in ballet and pointe, performing principal roles with Cary Ballet Company before expanding into contemporary movement and choreography at USF.

AJ’s training spans contemporary, modern, ballet, hip hop, jazz and acrobatics, with training and performance experience across the U.S. and Europe. Through USF, he’s performed works by artists including Stephanie Martinez, Kelly King, Saar Magal and Roderick George.

And there’s another reason we’re so excited to have them teaching our students: Cecilia and AJ are both professional dancers with Tampa City Ballet.

Our students aren’t only learning from teachers, they’re learning from working artists they’ll get to watch on stage throughout the season. They’re bringing what they experience in professional rehearsals and performances directly into the classroom.

If your dancer hasn’t added contemporary or Acro to their schedule yet, this is the season to do it.

At Tampa City Ballet School, students are placed by skill level, given opportunities to perform throughout the year, and trained in both classical ballet and contemporary dance, all within the official training school of Tampa City Ballet

Whether your dancer is taking their very first class or continuing their training, Tampa City Ballet School offers the best in classical ballet and contemporary dance instruction in a supportive, inspiring environment.
