Now more than ever it’s so important to give back to our community, especially in this crazy age of book bans we’re living in. So when I learned about I knew I wanted to not just uplift our local community of Black dancers, but pay it forward in the wider community. One of our main values is to always pay our performers, and as they’re all from different walks of life we gave our performers the option to either donate, keep, or split their pay. Thanks to the generosity of everyone in attendance, from audience to volunteers to dancers, we were able to donate $1679 to YB&L! Thank you so much for helping us celebrate, uplift, and give back!
P.S. Did you know we were the FIRST pole show in Tampa to pay our performers?! Since the start of Nocturnelle in 2019, it’s been one of our main values to always pay our entertainers. Though we’re a relatively small show, even if it wasn’t much, we wanted to pay them what we could to show our appreciation for their talent and dedication. At the end of the day, people buy tickets to BE entertained and they tip BECAUSE OF the entertainers. So it never sat right with us to reap the benefits of their labor + keep all the proceeds for ourselves (in other industries I believe they call that “exploitation”) but that’s a story for a different day. 😆🙏🖤 Thanks for being a part of the magic!
